Very true. People are basing this on POTUS and "nuclear briefcase" but even in that case his immediate protection team aren't carrying it within a few feet of the protectee. The main purpose of the close protection team is just that- to protect the president/prime minister. In the case of POTUS the nuclear briefcase is carried by a military aide whom you almost never see, true he travels with the President but he isn't secret service or part of the protection team.
