The pilots were prevented from moving to F-16s. A number of pilots from Hawk 63 and Hawk 102 squadrons were asked about flying F-16s on civil contracts for the UAEAF (Fall briefing 1998 at Al Ain) if the UAE government were to secure the deal, the US government firmed up against the idea of Pakistani pilots & maintenance personnel from working on the aircraft.....hence only limited to LM Aero and UAEAF personnel as of today. Side note: Had there been a green light to fly the F-16s, the former PAF pilots were going to earn a third of a serving Major's monthly salary for a given contract. Not sure about the maintenance personnel.@MastanKhan doesn't this tell you the PAF vipers were living on borrowed time?
