Ola to launch services in Bangladesh

After giving a tough fight to Uber in the Indian market, Ola is looking to test International waters. Last month it was reported that Ola was planning to launch its services outside of India. As of now, Ola is eyeing expansion in neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Apart from this, the company is also looking for expansion in other countries in Asia and North Africa. As per the LinkedIn account of Naveen Narayan, ‎Leadership Talent Acquisition at Ola, the company is currently looking for operations expert in Dhaka and Colombo.

They should start operations in North America. Traditional drivers are goddamn angry here. They can tap that anger and make some money :D

Lol. Ola is the market leader here by a long margin. The last time I was in India, I couldnt even see Uber on the streets of Chennai.

I said Ola should start operations in North America. And can use the dollar money in subcontinental operations just like Uber does. Never said it has base in NA.

You can keep your BS elsewhere. Ola is just planning. And lets talk when it begins operations in BD and if it steals marketshare from Uber. I know you are just biased just cos its an Indian company.

BS, ola can try as much as it wants but it won't get much traction in Bangladesh. Most drivers don't own the cars and when you have 400% tax and basic cars cost $30,000+ no owner is going to put up their cars as online taxis. Even Uber is having a tough time, trying to attract more drivers or taxi firms. Theres no room for ola in the market.

Sad state of urban life in Bangladesh then if what you say is true, with less internet penetration and smartphone users educated enough to use apps.
Let's see if and when Ola enters BD officially.

Uber is enjoying double digit growth in Dhaka, both on drivers' side and riders' side, over the last five months. It is the company's fastest growth for any city in Asia, Uber says. The service was launched in Dhaka on November 22, 2016.

Uber is having a 'tough time' because the dipshits increased prices within a couple of months of arriving. They thought - hey, we'll get them hooked...and then charge whatever.

But, it's true - the market is very small in Bangladesh at present. Unlike India, which not has 1bil+ people, but also multiple big cities.

In Bangladesh the end all and be all is Dhaka and to a lesser extent Chittagong.

That's it. Difficult for 2/3/4 entities to survive in such a market.

Local company 'Pathao' provides a motorbike service and a new local entrant is coming - 'Ezyyr' - cars and bikes.

Airtel unable to spend or don't want to spend in BD because they having problems in homeland itself.

They tried too, but lost. They bought Warid the 4th sized network from UAE investors and plowed additional funds to take on the competition but found the going to hard and had to merge with Axita. Now Ola is thinking to compete with Uber in Bangladesh....bad decision.
