What's new

OIC is now Organization of Islamic Cooperation

there are pro's and con's to having india in the oic.

its right to say that the millions of indian muslims deserve a voice in this forum.

but then again - this is india - a hindu majority nation looking for a seat amongst muslim nations as an equal - this does not sit right.

plus lets look at this thread - why are indian hindu's bothered about india's standing in the oic - its obvious - because they wish for india to have influence in as many forums as possible, especially a forum in which it can undermine pakistan in its "own backyard".

plus india is aligned strategically with israel, not with muslim nations based on shared cultural and religious leanings, but now increasingly with the west, so india will be the black sheep.

therefore the cons outweigh the pro's.

What about Pakistan?

It has dispute with one Islamic Country Afghanistan.

According to Afghanistan, Pakistan has occupied its territory.

and according to the world, the border is recognized internationally.

suffice to say, "border" hardly has any meaning in this situaiton since its hardly even marcated

@ EjazR

And again i will say as has been mentioned before that in this case Iraq and Kuwait were established members of the OIC prior to the conflict. India has however from the start occupied a Muslim province which has showed that it has no desire to stay with Hindu majority India (whether it wants unification with Pakistan is a different matter). It is this dilemma that you are not understanding. And also with all due respect i am shifting no goal posts, i am merely answering the 2 points you raised and providing counter arguments to them.

Some of your statements are questionable. It is a fact of history that free and fair elections were conducted in 1950 in J&K and National Conference - which was well established in the region came to power and then passed a resolution to approve the ascension. So there was a democratic process for that.

The two points are, Non-muslim majority countries can't be part of OIC and countries having disputes can't be part of OIC.

I have shown countries were both points are met and are still full members. To say that they are full members and so they can do as they please is not how norms and institutions are set up. Those who flout the "rules" are kicked out.
