OGRA proposes Rs83.50 per litre price hike in petrol: sources

.
It's the same game which Pathans do in bargains. They tell you the hair clip was for $200 but end up selling at $20, and you feel happy that you saved $180 but reality is you've paid twice more than you would have otherwise.

Now OGRA will take the curse of proposing 83.50 and Khadam-e-Eala will step in cutting the price hike by 60% and only adding 35 rupees instead and thus Shoe-baz will become an automatic hero.
Even an increase of upto 35 rupees is a lot, general public can't bear to see an increase of 5 rupees per litre, any further increases of fuel at this stage will make the PDM more unpopular.

Pathans don't sell $20 dollar hair clips. Kindly correct your knowledge.

Arrogant leaders who do not see divine help behind IK are either blind or stupid. Have they ever seen entire state vs one person and one person is still winning?

Every case of corruption that is now closed or every new story of corruption that surfaces will benefit Imran Khan. This price hike too is going to pull people out of their homes. Shoe-baz has all programs targeted towards the poor. May be every one involved is going to get a new Mercedes.

.
Let's see if the price increase is only to offset the buying rate differential or whether they also slap on PDL and GST according to the old rate.

.
AHAHAHA. These were the same people who were saying IK has crippled the poor.
Infact PDM's tagline was to oust a govt which is not poor friendly.
People here supporting PDM need some economic lessons to understand how Zardari, Nawaz has destroyed Pakistan's economy. These people have made Pakistan an import base economy instead of export based.
Thanks Bajwa Sahab for imposing this regime on us.
People like @Sainthood 101 were critical of IK decisions of price hikes which were necessary to cut subsidies on imports so that a export base economy could flourish. Now these same people are saying that what SS is doing is right. Ah what an irony.

Not just me mate, majority of PTI supporters criticized it
They may act cultish with borderline hatred of everything non PTI

But are also to Thier credit first one's to criticize Thier own party when they're doing something wrong in Thier opinions

Something which many patwwaris or jayalas won't do

They don't care, they're being fed Biryani plates day in day out for their stamp of approval. Plus they get to see Nani in PM House.

adding 30rs levy and 17% gst. actual increase should be much lower. some people who used to scream about rising inflation and petrol prices under PTI are now supporting this raise.

Oh well, I wonder ab kdhr hain woh sab log jo kehte hai PTI ghareeb dushman hai.

I disagree with the permanent freeze on fuel prices, but the PTI government had reduced the GST and PDL to almost zero, so that the government doesn't earn anything from fuel product sales, but only breaks even.

Now, this government is trying to earn from that as well. Had they only undone the freeze, I would have supported this move.

Although negative for the economy, capping oil and electricity prices was a smart move by IK from a political perspective. Reason: IK got an inkling that his government might be in trouble and whoever came in next would have to remove price cap which would be an unpopular step and thus damage electoral prospects. New government does not have to remove price ceiling but failure to act would result in IMF withdrawing support which would be damaging for PKR and cause an inflation spike. Moreover, IK probably did a deal to buy cheaper oil from Russia which would have reduced cost of fuel. But incoming chor daaqoo qaatil gang cannot risk this step due to fear of upsetting their aqa. So they have little option and throw peanuts for the awam while press portrays SS as second coming for Warren Buffet.

Bottomline even from economic perspective, it makes sense to hold elections early while giving caretaker government a relatively long stint. Since caretaker government does not have to deal with political fallout, it can take unpopular measures which are required in the existing global economic cycle. Post election government will have some breathing room and therefore it can afford to take some hard decisions since next elections will be far away.

But this being Pakistan, politicians will take the worst possible option while their supporters contend themselves with watching bandar ka tamasha. Whereas before, we could count on army to do the "needful", this time things are different as army is busy trying to come up with ways to counter twitter trends.

Mulk currently is completely yateem.

PTI's petrol price subsidy was a populist measure, taken not because their term was approaching its end, but because they knew VoNC was on its way. This measure was taken a while back with last price increase being 2 months ago. So much for a sudden Amreeki Saazish.

you have sources to back your claims or is it just a "political statement"?

.
the biggest difference in this price hike is petroleum levy and gst which is absent currently besides price increase. ans this will have a bigger effect than removing subsidy.

Further criticising the premier, Shahbaz said that the reason PM Imran came to power was to increase the price of petrol from Rs96 to Rs160.

"You have transformed Pakistan into the third-most-expensive country of the world. Under your rule, the people of Pakistan are suffering from inflation, unemployment, and economic catastrophe — all of which have turned out to be a doomsday for the masses," he said.
