Official Indian apology to Sri Lankan people

Why should they?

They did what is best for there country and we did what is best for ours. Besides, India and Sri Lanka is like close relatives. We fight sometimes and get befriend on other times. There are no saints here. The best thing is to forgive and forget. As the Buddha said once;

No use bothering. Pakistanis don't understand concepts like that. They also seriously think they were responsible for the defeat of the LTTE:laughcry::laughcry:

As a matter of fact we do not forget the help they provided us when we were down and on the verge of a monumental defeat. Without them, the story would have been very different.

Obviously they helped. but they portray it as them defeating India in a proxy war all by themselves. They completely ignore the efforts of the IPKF

If few French or British think that Germany should not apologize for Hitler's atrocities, it does not mean it reflects the majority opinion.

So I guess you are one of the Tamils whom India "helped".

@Gibbs @samv do you agree with HeinzG?

Expecting them to apologize ? Hmmm i agree with him, It's their prerogative, I dont think it matters to Lankans either way.. A nation cannot progress with holding on to their past obsessively, Live and let live thats the Buddhist motto

But that's not to say Lankans wont be aware of India's past policies of cross border terrorism and policies of attrition, although they have softened up after the Gandhi era of central govts in Delhi atleast regarding Sri Lanka

There will always be apprehensions viz a viz India when it comes to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, You see that emphatically when it comes to the Sri Lankan policy on India in Int forums against any other country in the region, Especially regarding Pakistan.. They albeit being a smaller nation either oppose or abstain from supporting on any resolutions unlike other countries in South Asia like Bangladesh and Bhutan who support Indian resolutions carte blanche

Sri Lanka will always keep good relations as much as it can afford with India but at a arms length.. So to speak.. Irrespective of govts in power

Btw the poster you mentioned is not a person of Tamil origin, That i can confirm
