The fourth Twenty20 World Cupis fast approaching and often it can pay to back your team earlyrather than at shorter odds closer to the tournament. The Twenty20 World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka this year from 18th September to 7th October and neither of the 2010 finalistsare favourites to win it this year with the bookies.

England are the defending champions having beaten Australia in the final two years ago and it is Australia who are fancied to come out on top out of the two teams this year but neither are as well fancied as they could be. England are the joint fourth favourites at the time of writing and are very well fancied by a few bookies, some of which make England the joint favourites in the outright Twenty20 World Cup betting. That means the shortest odds available on England are 9/2 but if you shop around you can actually get 6/1 with some bookies who don't fancy England quite so strongly and that means there are three teams with shorter odds currently and another with the same odds.

Australia were beaten by England in the final and they are slightly more fancied than England, but not by much. At the time of writing the best odds available on Australia are 11/2 and that puts them third in the pecking order behind India who are the favourites to win the Twenty20 World Cup and Sri Lanka who are second favourites to become the first team to win the Twenty20 World Cup in their own country.India can be backed at 9/2 currently and this would be their second Twenty20 World Cup having won the first one in South Africa in 2007. Sri Lanka were the runners up in 2009 and they are now hosting the event so clearly have a leading chance of victory at 5/1. Sri Lanka not only have the opportunity to become the firstTwenty20 World Cup hosts to win the tournament, by reaching the final they'd even become the first hosts to get that far and they have every chance of setting some sort of record in that respect this year.

South Africa are quite well fancied this year, they have been given the same chance as England with most bookies of winning this but they are the only team in the top six in the betting not to have reached a Twenty20 World Cup, will that relative lack of experience cost them this year? Apart from South Africa, the only other team with single figure odds in the Twenty20 World Cup betting are Pakistan and if South Africa don't quite have the Twenty20 World Cup pedigree then Pakistan certainly do as they have been involved in two of the last three finals, they were runners up to India in 2007 and then beat Sri Lanka in the 2009 final.

Meanwhile Afghanistan appear to be the least likely team to win the Twenty20 World Cup this year with some bookies willing to offer a huge 1000/1 on their chances. Slightly more popular but equally as unlikely winners include Ireland at 500/1 and Zimbabwe at 300/1.

. . .
Though worldcup is held in srilanka, India or Pakistan or Bangladesh, its in pitches of subcontinent which favour subcontinent batsman and bowlers.

So frontrunners will be India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
