Honestly speaking, 'Khan' isn't necessarily a Muslim-specific name. Khan is derived from Khanh (Turkic), and its old meaning is "prince" or "ruler". Understandably as such, it has had a place as a title, a name and has often been used as a measure of respect-- especially in Central Asian countries and Iran. I suppose those 'irked' would be by the intentions and not origins but then apart from the Almighty, one knows only his own intentions best.

Dude, its not a Muslim name in first place. There's no need to get so apprehensive. . The losers from SP are simply playing "Victim Votebank" politics and must be ignored. There are scores dying in some attacks, some land slides, some bus falling into ravines, some boat sinking, some storm in some part of the country, some pollution etc. These sorts of things should make news.
