In Geopolitics ,there is no Permanent friends only Permanent interests .China and Russia stands only for their interests.
When Soviet send 10th fleet for our back up in 1971 it was only for their national interest not because of their good hearts.
That was Soviet .Present Russian Federation is cant came nearer to their former when we considering their comparative power.
We always pursued non alignment .But China often resorted in some actions that questioned our integrity.
They can scare SCS nations like Vietnam .And their anger against Japan is their emotional issue.But neither of these will not work against Indian Republic .Because we have our own unique structure .But China cant realise that.It is India's neutral stand that give much leverage for China in Asia .If we choose western camp .Chinese effort will go to vain.(But we dont that because that will affect our interests).

The US is known for backstabbery and ultimately it is not in Indias interest to get too close to the Americans, if the main purpose is to work against Chinese interests.
Keep the relations balanced.
After all, US is thousands of miles away, and China is your direct neighbor. The US is only a temporary guest.

true, US military dominance will be here for a while but we sent a spacecraft to mars... push comes to shove and you can rest assured we have the capability to send a 'care package' to every major US city.

relations are good and I don't see any hostilities with uncle sam breaking out anytime soon and not likely going to happen anyway, but we can do it.

yup, we're best off resolving our disputes, trade, border or ideological with calm common sense over the table discussions, I do not want to see India get dragged into the US/China game.. look what they've done to the middle east, here we all have nukes, the US can fuk right off.. don't need/want them sticking their evil nose here

Thats the right spirit. Keep relatations cordial, but dont trust them to look after or safeguard your interests.
Chances are they want to use you for their geopolitical game against China

We know that bro.We dont sacrifice our vital interest for the sake of a relation with US.In fact Indians are still much suspicious to US motives.You might saw it during diplomatic crisis.
But we also dont sacrifice our vital interest for a relation with our arrogant Northern neighbour.

Regimes come and go. Nations actions remain etched in memory forever.

Diplomacy is not based on respect but based on mutual interest. We need Iran for our energy and also for our access to central asia . They are strategically Important to us. We have invested a lot of capital in this relationship it should tell you the sort of Importance GOI gives to Indo Iran relationship.
