Obama Administration Should Tell Israel U.S. Will Attack Israeli Jets if They Try to

Israel does not need to attack all of the above simultaneously. Those nuclear facilities are not independent, they support each other in order for Iran to have a successful nuclear weapons program. Israel can have an initial strike against items 1, 2 and 5, for example, that would seriously degrade Iranian air defenses. Then strike the nuclear facilities later.

Thats what i think as well, IAF's SEAD capability is something i rate high.
They have the strike Eagles and heavily modified F-16s with lots of value additions in the electronic suite...their opponents are not a very veteran air force and that makes the technological gap even more challenging to overcome...

IMO, it is tough but not impossible for IAF...

Regarding Iran's blockade of the Gulf, i think it can instead backfire on Iran as well...all countries are selfish in their own interest...they will see Iran blockading the sea routes and not Israel...and that means they would take care of Iran...

Iran's nuclear program is primarily either underground or set up so that key components can be loaded on a truck and moved on short notice. If Israel hits the airfields, sam sites and radar sites in it's first attack, by the time they get back for second attack the "mobile" portions will have been moved. Then there is the question as to whether or not Israel can even destroy the underground sites. These would be a difficult target even for us. They could seal the entrances but there is a real question as to whether or not the underground portions can be destroyed by conventional means.

Secondly, once this first attack happens, all the mobile asm sites will be just that, mobile. Itranian subs will be at sea, attack craft will be scattered and mobile. The persian gulf will end up closed to shipping for at least a short period of time. How well do you think that will go over with the rest of the world when they realize no oil is going to come out of the persian gulf because of an Israeli attack.

Here is some some on the subject too.

The official said the newly unveiled facility "doesn't really change the baseline" conclusion of the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate which concluded that Iran could manufacture a nuclear weapons sometime between 2010 and 2015.

"But that is always subject to review and reassessment as new information comes in," the official said.

The official added that there are suspicions about other possible hidden or undeclared nuclear-related facilities within the country given Iran's record of deception and concealment.

How may more sites are there that we don't know about? Israel at best would set Iran back a few months, if things went poorly it might only set them back a few weeks. The worst thing that could happen is for Israel to attack Iran.

One last thing, if Israel were to attack, what do you think Iran would do in Iraq and Afghanistan?
