I hated, hated ANP when they changed the name of NWFP to KPK. I lost all my packages that I would order from other countries when before they would deliver fine before the name change.

It's without a doubt that ANP is a separatist party and they never had any good intentions. I don't know what asshole thought it was a good idea to agree to the name change.

Since PTI is undoing the wrongs of previous parties, can it change the name back to NWFP?

The name KPK brings me cringe and makes us different from Pakistanis when we aren't. Like we are Pashtuns and not Pakistanis. NWFP is a more patriotic name, NWFP clearly defines what this province is. The frontier province.

.
Well, mainly ANP and PPP joined hands to the change the name. PMLn also voted in favour while PTI was not in the parliament. However, it seems people of NWFP seem to be quite happy with the name change.
Rest, your personal loss is sad but that was a one time thingy and should not hamper the collective decision. NWFP was not a name but more of a description given to it by the Britishers. Frankly, now saying NWFP sound quite odd and weird while KPK sounds easy to pronounce, familiar and rooted in the culture. However, generally, I'm against provinces and we should either abolish them or make several of them like 40-50.

I know i am a loner but to me, KPK would always be NWFP. KPK makes you feel like we are separate people from Pakistanis.

Look at the rest of the world. Would any Californian want to change its name? Definitely not.

The name likely derived from the mythical island California in the fictional story of Queen Calafia, as recorded in a 1510 work The Adventures of Esplandián by Garci Rodríguez de Montalvo.[31] This work was the fifth in a popular Spanish chivalric romance series that began with Amadis de Gaula.[32][33][34][35] Queen Calafia's kingdom was said to be a remote land rich in gold and pearls, inhabited by beautiful black women who wore gold armor and lived like Amazons, as well as griffins and other strange beasts.[31][36][37] In the fictional paradise, the ruler Queen Calafia fought alongside Muslims and her name may have been chosen to echo the title of a Muslim leader, the Caliph. It's possible the name California was meant to imply the island was a Caliphate.

However, generally, I'm against provinces and we should either abolish them or make several of them like 40-50.

Agreed.

Why so? but I don't think there is any such sentiment or demand by a significant number of the people in KPK/NWFP. However, I think a lot of problems can be eliminated by abolishing or dissolving provinces into district level units with most of provincial powers going to the district govt while rest to the centre...More like the Europe and other advanced countries.

On what planet is the name NWFP a patriotic name? Northwest frontier province, really? What identity is in that name? Nothing, it was being referred to as a frontier province. It's like calling Punjab, the Eastern frontier province or gilgit as the Northern frontier province.

You sound like you are a hazara not a Pakhtoon.

I my self hate the name too, but I would never accept it changed back into what it used to be. A British creation, making it seem like the wild west, just because they weren't able to have a grip on it. It's a derogatory term, and you should get used to it.

Although we could change it into what it was meant to be. The province of Afghania, take from the "A" in name Pakistan

Agreed.
Where does the ame NWFP come from? A mystical unicorn that lived in the north-west?

Do you even realize the bs coming out of your mouth?
@RealNapster read this bs

you a pathan or kpk resident if not then go lick your british master behinds as long as you can
Mind the language but I understand your frustration

Abuse is against the rules

Well, we can still argue with decency and logic. He just expressed his opinion and himself acknowledged that he is loner so why get so flared up?
His opinion is somewhat offensive

NWFP: North Western Frontier Province
As I said, it was not a name but rather a description given by the Britishers while KPK is a proper name and comes from the local culture.

I suspect he is from Hazara and there was some commotion in Abbottabad on this issue or something similar..perhaps they wanted a separate province and thus they supported PMLn.

That's what I said and my question is mocking his views. It's not an actual question.

Please do not generalize. I am from Hazara.
I did not generalise but just mentioned that there was some issue especially in Abbottabad and some people got killed. It had something to do with the name or separate province..
But definitely majority did not support and thus it did not succeed.

I guess i am a waste of human being because i like to drink tea with every type of food.

Some people here are proper extremists, didn’t think it would offend someone.

I am not in favor of province names based on ethnicities, that's all. Just a trivial name to denote it's a different province because we're all Pakistanis not Pathan, Punjabi or Baloch.

Because i see ANP, PTM and others playing on this time and time again.

Anyway if it offends people here then I don't give a crap. I have moved on already
