NVIDIA Unveils Killer GeForce GTX 1080 And GTX 1070 Pascal Graphics Cards That Slay Titan X

You are talking Win 7, Win 8 and 10 dont have this limitation.

As for uses while I agree 16 gigs is sufficient for most of gaming and media, having more doesn't hurt.
Well i have three operating systems in three physical drives. Windows 10 32 bit genuine. windows 7 64 bit made genuine and Ubuntu.
Only windows 10 32 bit doesn't see my 8 gb ram, only shows 4 gb. So yes the problem is with all 32 bit windows.

.
I've an 8 core i7, 16gb of ram and a dual GTX980 setup an
Thats one hell of a rig, do you use it only for gaming or do some serious stuff like graphics editing/running virtual machines.

.
Have 96 GB in my workstation with 2x Xeon 5670 six-cores running Linux.
When I run my little application (it runs for an hour and a half) it generates about
60 GB of data, so I thought a ramdisk would be nice.
It turned out that the ramdisk only shaved a minute from the run time compared to a 24GB system.
2 x 15k RPM SAS disks in a striped RAID configuration gives the same performance as an SSD.
Exactly. that's what I always strive to avoid. too much expenditure for negligible performance boost (and that I am jealous of you rich boys ;) )

could be.. I didn't know about 32 bit.

I am jealous. Though seriously

Which HOTAS are you using, is it X-52? I couldn't make it out. I bought a new one from TM to play Elite dangerous and Star Citizen but found out that my reaction times are not what they used to be. Young'uns were having a turkey shoot :( So for now - no dog fighting. These space/flight sims are serious business.

Have my own consultant company, so it is tax deductible, and with 16GB DIMMs,
that is the minimum configuration. Each CPU needs 3DIMMs.
Got the DIMMs cheap, so it was only a $300 wasted.

About to be replaced by 2 x E5-2670 for 16 cores/32 threads.
Hope to reduce run time to one hour :cheesy:.

What an awesome timing, just as battlefield 1 got released, nivida released there new series, a century burn for both COD fans and AMD fans.

What application you run which needs so much hardware?

Maker preserve both my tower and cooling system:lol:. I could probably make a cup of tea with all the boiling water:partay:.

But seeing as how I make a living as a professional gamer and streaming games, this is a must.

Might need a new PSU though:undecided:. I hope my EVGA G2 850W will handle it as well as it does a GTX980 SLI setup:

The rule is power requirement of the graphics card(s) + 200 in overhead.

hey how much RAM you've got going with that setup?

Being a gamer are you planning to die alone in oldage ? :P
i hope it was sarcasm man...

hey how much RAM you've got going with that setup?

I have 48 installed across 5 RAM slots, one 16gb card and four 8gb cards, but only 16gb usable at any one time.

The two 8gb pairs are a redundancy while the 16gb card's a contingency to be used only in the event the main RAM cards or a RAM channel dies and forces me into a single-channel setup.

Both my OS and MoBo can handle up to 128gbs, once you get past 8gbs for gaming, VRAM starts to matter more. So there's no real need for the extra memory beyond having it as a safeguard.

.
I once saw a gaming PC being sold for 15,000 dollars. It had 5 ssd in Raid 5. Quad SLI AND 128 GB RAM . I played some games on it but again due to windows OS limitations in using all pc resources,it wasn't too different from gaming PCs a quarter of the price. These PCs get highest scores in benchmark tests and break records, but thats all about it.
What you guys should do is try 3D gaming with 3D glasses. Thats where your PCs with 100+ FPS will be useful. I cannot do 3d gaming as my low cost gaming rig can only do 60 fps maxed out. But unless you are using #D glasses , you cannot tell the difference between 30 FPS and 100 FPS.
