uhm...how did you equate unmarried mothers with deadbeat dads? they were two different things and these stats that you are producing are indicating unmarried women that are in an unregistered relationship with a man that stuck around for his children and carried out a father's responsibilities. I am SPECIFICALLY referring to guys who do their thing and then disappear. those women are purposely omitted from these statistics of yours cuz...well, they make the west look like sewage that it is...but regardless of how hard they try to hide it, it shows in the day to day lives of most americans...children of the night that no one cares about...future cannon fodder unfortunately.

Considering US population was 248 million in 1990 when US was at the height of its power, China has more than enough people to be #1 supa wawa.

China's population will probably fall to 1 billion at the end of the century.

1 billion wt merely abt 250 million r young in 2050, 750 million r old and become a very big burden for social welfare . 85-90 % factories will leave CN as they cant find enough good workers plus trade war

Declining birth rates and an increasing elderly population are expected to put pressures on China’s working age population (defined as the population between the ages of 15 to 64) from both sides. UN population projections anticipate that China’s working age population will fall by 200 million by 2050

Hey GB glad you are well. I had an Indian stalker once long ago .. his name was Dr something .. not warrior ...can‘t remember his name.

I stay away from Asian boys after I was threatened by a Korean mom in middle school.
Hope you survived the cold front down in Texas just fine.
Thanks sister for your kind concern, YES its crazy cold in those few days, however since i live in a pretty new or good area (other than a little lost of water pressure) overall is alright for me
PS, my 2 cats did a really good job in keeping me warm as well (they sleep between my feet nightly):pleasantry:

I read Chinese government is gonna raise retirement age. Makes sense, UK has done it, I personally think other countries have to do same.

I think people exaggerate impact of an aging population. Encouraging people to live healthier is a policy governments should promote.

knowing you I suspect two cats is euphemism for something more diabolical. Never mind, glad to hear you did not suffer.

Number of newborns in China drops 15% in 2020 as coronavirus weighs

BEIJING (Reuters) - The number of newborns in China plummeted 15% in 2020 from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Public Security, with the onset of the novel coronavirus disrupting the economy and weighing on decisions to have a family.

China saw 10.035 million births last year, the ministry said on Monday, compared with 11.79 million in 2019. Of those born last year, 52.7% were boys and 47.3% girls.
Posts on Chinese social media with the hashtag “How to get China out of a low fertility trap” were viewed 120 million times as of Tuesday, with some comments linking low fertility rates to high living costs, while others said social norms were changing.
“The declining fertility rate actually reflects the progress in the thinking of Chinese people - women are no longer a fertility tool,” wrote a user of Weibo, a Twitter-like microblog popular in China.

In recent years, many Chinese couples have been reluctant to have children due to the rising cost of health care, education and housing. China’s decision in 2016 to abandon its decades-long one-child policy has not provided much impetus to the country’s birth rate.
The economic uncertainties brought on by COVID-19 last year have further weighed on decisions to have children, extending a long-term birth decline in the world’s most populous but fast-ageing nation.
About a fifth of Chinese citizens are aged 60 and above, or around 250 million people.

Rapid ageing will create policy headwinds for Chinese leaders as they promise to guarantee health care and pension payments, despite an expected shrinking of the labour force and challenges to lifting China’s slowing labour productivity.
“Instead of encouraging multiple births, it would be better to work hard on lifting the ‘quality’ of the new population,” another Weibo user wrote.
China’s National Bureau of Statistics is expected to release official 2020 population data in late February.

I wonder what is the true purpose of this article?

Studies have also shown that in all advanced and progressive thinking societies, birth rates will dropped. :coffee:

quite interesting .
I read Chinese government is gonna raise retirement age. Makes sense, UK has done it, I personally think other countries have to do same.

that is true , retirement age should be increased .

China hardly has any coronavirus. There's only a few new cases per day in China compared to tens of thousands of new cases per day in the US.

are you sure because Wuhan governor already admitted the numbers were down played

I think both China/India/Africa has enough population. Let's make better use of every human we have. India and China makes up bloody 2.7 billion, I think that's way more than enough!
