The number of naxal-affected districts has seen a decline from 106 to 68, Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha today.

He said as of now 35 districts are the most affected, spread across seven states like Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra. Replying to a debate on the Demand for Grants of the Home Ministry, Singh said Leader of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge had given selective figures on the issue of naxalism. "Their number is decreasing and will decrease further," the Home Minister said while noting that the Centre shares forces and intelligence with the states besides the financial assistance in dealing with the problem. The Centre as well as states have also undertaken a number of developmental works in naxal affected areas, the Home Minister said.

Elaborating, he said in 35 districts, 358 new bank branches, 752 ATMs and 1789 post offices have been opened over the last two years.

The way they are surrendering & losing support I don't think they will last a decade..

but insurgency won't die. Sometimes it gets weaken and sometimes it get strong. That's how it survived decades.
Well, for that you must understand the maoist movement in India. Public support dwindling and blow on their financials by demonetization, they have weakened a lot.

by the way naxilites were always active in 60-70 districts.

Naxlism will die.It's about time.
They have no funds, workforce & locals are giving middle finger to extremism.Govt is giving them offer to surrender without facing law charges & they are also given heavy amount of money for every surrender...
All started due to poverty, discrimination, lack of education...As things are changing very fast things will change without firing a bullet..

A dying group will be easy to hire by enemies and will become more deadly. They will become real enemies then. That's what i said.

If they became more deadly they will be dealt with more brutal force as of now CRPF and police is diployed to counter naxals they not even use state machinery at full

Naxals know now this facts if they poke to much Army and IAF will deployed and it will be the end of them once for all

Brutal force will makethem more stronger. More force more collateral demage means more recruits.

Development and justice/jobs for adivasis means end of Naxalism. As development/roads/electricity reaches the remotest areas and villages the Maoist problem will end soon. With Modi at the helm and rapid development happening (electrification of all village by 2019, Houses for all by 2022 etc) I will give the movement a decade more at max.

"Will".....
Here that is not the case..
Have you ever wondered why no serious military operations were initiated or attack drones or helicopters was never used?
They are being dumped systematically..
