Nukes silenced India, made defence impregnable

I Failed To See How Nuke's Made Pakistan's Defence Impregnable ?

.
LAHORE – PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif Monday said that conducting of nuclear explosions during his tenure made the defence of Pakistan impregnable and since then this capability has been discouraging the enemies from casting an evil eye on the motherland.

“India could have attacked Pakistan many times, but due to Pakistan’s being an atomic power, India could not gather courage to do so,” Nawaz told a huge gathering organised here by Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust and Tehreeke Pakistan Workers Trust in connection with the 14th Youme Takbeer at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehreek-e-Pakistan.

Ok so is this the ONLY thing Pakistanis are glad about? Did it help improving life of awaam or did it help saving 35,000 Pakistanis in WOT? Did it help saving sovereignty violated on daily basis by US drones klling innocent women and children, did it help saving dozen of soldiers killed by NATO forces, did it help providing power supply?

The Only thing I agree with this man On, probably.

If that chest-thumping makes you sleep better than have a nice sleep and dreams.Keep sleeping and dreaming while Indian slowly develops itself leaving you whining "we got nukes, no one can touch us, balle balle".

Your nukes came to no use in Kargil and you had to back off... even China told you to back off which was perhaps the hardest pill Pakistan had to swallow since you thought China would help for sure.Heart broken Pakistan had to back off at last. :D

All that became very evident during the last stand off...... in 2002, the Indian army pussyfooted on the border for a whole 12 months....loosing 900 men without a bullet fired from our side.
As for your Sovereignty, there is something called Red Corridor.....very prominent on the Indian map.

Did you get that data from wiki? The same site you think is prone to defects and Indian mouthpeace?

While the cost to India was estimated at $1.8 billion, Pakistan had to cough up the remaining $1.2 billion, a study by the International Centre for Peace Initiatives (ICPI), quoted by Pakistani weekly The Friday Times, said.New Delhi’s spending amounted to 0.38% of its gross domestic product (GDP), while Pakistan’s cost was a whopping 1.79% of its GDP.

We all know how Pakistani lost it's sleep and ran all over the world seeking help(from Saudis to Amrika) to prevent Indian attack.Fortunately Indian is goverened by a Civilian Govt (unlike Pakistan) and NOT army otherwise you would have seen a war.If Indian army was the deciding factor then Pakistan's geography may have been very different from the start.

12/01 and 26/11 were shrewd acts done by extremist Pakistani (includes ARMY/ISI) to divert attention of the world from its home grown terrorists and to create a war between 2 countries and you failed because India took a intelligent step by not attacking but laid good foundation of letting Pakistanis killing other Pakistani and inviting super power as well. The results of not attacking Pakistan is showing up now on both sides :azn:

btw bringing Naxis here shows you don't know much about them.

going nuclear was the best shut the ffuccck up call to the aggressor :P

Don't be so frustrated and emotional.Just look at the state of Pakistan and you would see who is up'd what.

A few vague memories from those days...
1) India conducted the tests and immediately Indian Defense Minister said: "China is the greatest strategic threat to India"; that was quite an odd comment. Even an unnecessary provocation, even if truth.
2) All kinds of American officials flew into Pakistan with inducements (and perhaps threats).
3) After the Indian tests, Indian officials started giving not-so-veiled nuclear blackmail to Pakistan, something like 'Pakistan should be mindful of the changed strategic situation' if Pakistan meddles in Kashmir.
4) Clinton slapping sanctions by signing a document while saying 'I know India did it first but two wrongs don't make it right'. American officials even implied that India WANTED Pakistan to go nuclear because Pakistan would be in a more difficult position to face the international backlash.
5) After Pakistan conducted its tests there was quite an uproar in the Indian parliament where mainly opposition legislators going angry at BJP for allowing Pakistan to get so much strategic mileage.
6) Benazir Bhutto--who was probably in America then in exile--saying to the world/Americans that 'Pakistan has no choice but to conduct the tests'.

There is a very interesting video on You Tube in which Ms. Abida Hussain--who was a cabinet member in Nawaz Sharif govt. then--tells us about the decision making. Doing the nuclear test was perhaps inevitable but there WAS a lot of discussion in the cabinet with opposing voices. It's well worth watching.

The nukes are curse on both India and Pakistan, and indeed the humanity. Just because they have not been used in decades does not mean they will not be in future.

then by extending the same logic to pakistan, the entire country can be deemed to be center for terrorism, from karachi to islamabad, right?

Your maps show, chennai, banglore, calcutta, Ranchi, Patna, Hyderabad, under maoist control.

Next time try to use some logic before you post.

The only good Hindu is a dead Hindu. I for one am glad that nukes are constantly pointed at India.

Thanks for confirming............. that you are a brainwashed and misguided... just like your missiles/nukes.

Keep Nukes pointed at India on the east while on the west the West is killing innocents and destroying mosques in daily attacks and you can't do anything.

well if the ranting is going on then -- I blame Pakistan for what happened in India, Pak is the most responsible country for prolonging all this racial differences in India. We would have been at the same place 20 years ago if it wasn't for Pakistan. Offcourse it will make any good religious fellow in a secular country feel insecure when extremists of the same called religion are using their religion to spread hate, terrorism and wars on the same people. But it also makes me proud of where India is now, despite of all efforts of fanatics and lunatics.

Proof for the mentioned incidents, please............
Check the response of member notorious_eagle.

It was not a surgical strike. If it were the IAF planes would have fought their way through to strike at the target. It was simply a probing mission; check out PAF's response time, and try to paint PAF's radar and SAM locations. The Israelis are famous for this, they call this a 'test run' and regularly employ this against their Arab neighbours to paint the locations of their SAM's and ground radars. Trust me i know what happened, i have had the pleasure to meet the pilot whom flew the interception sortie. The IAF never in a million years could have imagined the response it got from PAF, within seconds PAF's interceptors were airborne to greet the incoming bogies. Incoming bogies were locked/tailed, at no point IAF fighters performed aggressive manoeuvres which is evidence enough they were not on a strike mission.
Thanks for the insight.

Since those Jets were armed and several in number, and intrusions occurred twice with a short gap between them on the same day; therefore speculation of attempted surgical strikes arose.

But some valid questions arise;

1. What if these Jets would not have been intercepted on time?
2. Maybe these Jets were ordered to not to fight their way through?

But of course, we can only speculate on the motive of this incident.
