Nuclear powered water desalination | A long term solution for Pakistan?

@VCheng | Huzoor no one is arguing to inject sea water directly to the crops. If we can pump enough water into our dams to make up for the shortfall, it can mix up with the normal river flow and would become suitable for irrigation.

Janabey Wala, pray tell us which dam do you want to store this sea water and how will you get it there in the volumes required? How are you going to mitigate the salinity that will poison the fertile plains hundreds of miles from the sea without direct drainage, even with dilution?

Huzoor, saline levels can be 'mitigated' to make the water useable. Pakistan's existing dam structure is enough for irrigating existing agro output. Balochistan is building 100 small dams which can be utilized for this purpose.

Okay, great idea. Let's see how it is implemented, if at all. I do not see it as feasible, but then why should I have to burst your bubbles? :D

Discussion of ideas is why we have this forum. Implementation unfortunately is not in my hands, its in the hands of an obese nihari eater. Good luck with bubbles, whatever that means.

The idea being discussed does not have sufficient innate merit to warrant implementation. Many other ideas that are put forth have similar issues. The jibe at the PM's eating habits is totally unnecessary.

For example, how many MAF of dam storage spread over what area do you propose to connect to the sea for storage and at what height above MSL? What crops are you proposing to irrigate with this saline water?

PS:

burst someone's bubble
Figure of Speech. to destroy someone's illusion or delusion; to destroy someone's fantasy. Ex: I hate to burst your bubble, but Columbus did not discover Canada. Even if you think I am being foolish, please don't burst my bubble.

Did you miss all the action on this thread??
You and me fueled the fire :P

Waisee wouldn't Desalination using Nuclear Power be a slight over-kill ? Surely there are less capital intensive methods out there who's energy production can be used for that end ?

Have you not heard of low energy desalination solar cells for developing countries???
Everybody from Saudi to US have switched to renewable sources of energy.
