Now, Pakistanis can
invest in India

India on Wednesday notified
the law permitting investments by Pakistan citizens and companies. In a bid to give a big boost to
trade and bilateral relations and enhance economic cooperation, the Union government on Wednesday notified a law permitting investments by Pakistan citizens and companies in India in sectors/activities other than defence, space and atomic energy.

“The government has reviewed the policy and decided to permit a citizen of Pakistan or an entity incorporated in Pakistan to make investments in India, under the government route, in sectors/ activities other than defence, space and atomic energy,’’ says the notification issued by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.

“The citizens and companies of Pakistan would also be able to
float joint ventures and participate in any kind of investment ventures, including
real estate, stock market, energy and other sectors. These investments will be screened and vetted before being given approval,’’ a senior DIPP official said.

Pakistan was the only country
in the negative list under the
Foreign Exchange Management
Act (FEMA), which prohibits
investments in India. Sri Lanka
was removed from the list in 2006 and Bangladesh in 2007.

Officials in the Industry Ministry said that in order to address the security concerns over investments from Pakistan, FDI proposals from Islamabad would be routed through the Foreign Investment Promotion
Board (FIPB), which is headed
by the Economic Affairs
Secretary in the Finance
Ministry.

Both countries had agreed to allow one-year multiple entry visas for business visitors and
entry and exit through different cities.

this is a good step forward towards trade normalization between the two neighbours:yahoo:

.
lets see how pakistan reacts to this gesture...
Hope relations between the neighbours improve n pakistan also ease its regulations n allow Indian investment:enjoy:

.
More business=More interaction=More Understanding=Better Relations.

Let's hope this time, the illusion of peace and better relation actually bears fruit.

Investment opportunities are already quite liberal for Indians here. Dabur dominates the herbal medicare niche whereas as Qmobile (Micromax Joint Venture with Pakistani Company) is the highest selling mobile phone brand in Pakistan.

.
Let's just hope that this opportunity is not used by the likes of Dawood and Hafizz Saeed to spread their nefarious designs inside India.

Pakistan to double
tea imports from
India by 2015

10 April 2012 ,

By Special Correspondent A tea plantation near Gudalur,
Tamil Nadu.

Pakistan is targeting to double
its tea imports from India by
2015 — from 24 million kg in
2011 to 50 million kg.
A memorandum of
understanding to this effect was signed between the India
Tea Association and the
Pakistan Tea Association (PTA)
on Tuesday. The managing partner of PTA,
Mohammad Hanif Janoo, said
here at a press conference that
besides the South Indian teas,
consumers in his country were
keen to try out other types of CTC teas from Assam and
Dooars. The delegation also
attended a tea-tasting session.

“We believe that this will open
up opportunity for trade, in
general, between the two
countries,” ITA Chairman C. S.
Bedi said. This was the first visit by a Pakistani tea delegation since 2007.

Pakistan is one of the top three
tea importing nations with a
consumption of 220 million kg
and an official import of 120
million kg. Its main supplier is
Kenya.

On the demand by Indian tea
exporters to get the Most
Favoured Nation (MFN) status,
Mr Janoo said that other than
countries such as Bangladesh,
Nepal and Sri Lanka all other exporting countries had to pay
the tariff.

Tata Nano was all set to make it's grand entrance into the Pakistani market but the plan was scrapped after the Mumbai attacks.

As for Pakistani products, Pakistani Footballs, Cricket equipment and Hockey Equipment is used by almost all national/international squads internationally. Pakistan's leather products are hugely popular in Europe/America and our surgical instruments are only matched by Germany's in their rating by the British Association of Physicians.

National and Shan, yes they sell pretty quick around Europe where South Asian communities long for a taste of home!

There used to be huge market for Pakistan manufactured landlines but time has made that industry irrelevant.
