What's new

Now, only Pak & China nationals need special permits to visit NE

I have just been to Assam (Guwahati, Tezpur and Kaziranga) and Meghalaya (Shillong and Cheerapunji) last month for vacations. You don't need any permits atleast in these two states. Really amazing and beautiful places esp. Elephant ride in the Kaziranga National Park and Shillong/Cheerapunji are amazing. Highly recomended if any of you are planning a vacation. I am thinking of going to either Sikkim or Arunachal for next year vacations.

But, while touring north Sikkim, an Inner Line Permit is required, which is issued only to group of four travelers, that too through tour operators.

Visa Permission: North East India

The Inner line permits(ILP) are issued from state govt's liasoning office in Delhi, Kolkata, Tezpur, Guwahati, Shillong, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur and Jorhat. It will be wise thing for you to collect the ILP from Delhi itself and fly to Guwahat and from there go to Tezpur by road for onwards journey. Below mention site will be helpful for you.

Any Domestic tourist coming to Arunachal Pradesh has to obtain an Inner Line Permit. The Permit is granted as a routine for the tourists and so it should not deter any tourist from coming to Arunachal Pradesh.

Foreigners, excluding Pakistani and Chinese, visiting India on valid visa will not have to take special permit to travel to Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland from January 1 as government has scrapped the provision to boost tourism in these northeastern states, beginning New Year.

Is that mean you require visa for each state separately? I thought that rule is for Pakistan only.

Is it not for foreigners as well? As far as I know, if you have a valid visa to travel any country, you are free to travel anywhere in the country

it was not muslims vs hindus vs sikhs vs christians contest..........it was muslims vs sikhs+hindus+christians thing.

and for ur kind info, Patankot is part of Gurdaspr and Batala is part of Amritsar.

another condition was , city should be in contact with Pakistan, plz check map

I doubt Chinese people would be upset by this. Chinese tourists tend to visit European countries like France and the UK or they go to places like Austrialia or the US. India is pretty low on the list.

Anyways if you want to keep Chinese tourists out, that's fine.

China passes France in tourism spending
MADRID -- China overtook France to occupy the fourth place last year in the ranking of the world's top spenders on international tourism, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation said Wednesday.

Chinese tourists splurged US$43.7 billion (32.8 billion euros) on their travels abroad in 2009 despite the economic downturn, propping up other economies by eating out, occupying hotel rooms and visiting attractions, it said in its latest bulletin
