Days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit to Russia, the government on Thursday gave its go-ahead for the acquisition of the S-400 Triumf air defence missile systems from Russia.
The Rs 39,000-crore deal can turn out to be a game changer for the India’s defence system against any sort of airstrike as it can destroy any incoming hostile aircraft, stealth fighters, missiles and drones at ranges of up to 400 km.

The deal, which was sanctioned by the defence acquisitions council (DAC) headed by the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, will give India an edge over the hostile neighbours in terms of air defence.

Under the deal, India is expected to get five air defence missile systems. Three of the systems are likely to be deployed in west (read Pakistan) and two in the east (read China) to counter the threat from neighbouring countries

Fear of Pakistani and Chinese missiles??????....According to many indians on PDF, india is already centuries ahead of Pakistan and China and can wipe them both out in a matter of seconds. By the way I thought india's main military threat was China and Pakistan posed 0 threat to india? A bit unfair then that you have 3 S-400 batteries against Pakistan as opposed to 2 for China. If Pakistan doesn't pose any threat to india why the need?

Chances of india pakistan war is also zero to none. Anyoe who thinks otherwise is an idiot. No air defense system is perfect enough and AAD mate i wont even talk about it. If your local systems were so perfect then you wouldnt be buying barak and S 400 in the first place. Anyways like other systems they will also rust away as after Nuclear tests that possibility of war has died forever.

You speak half truth, you right about how the iron dome is intercept the rockets buuutt what you may don't know is that the advance radar of the dome follow the rocket and detect where he gonna fall,the launcher only launch the interceptor when the rocket gonna fall in civil areas, so the success rate is about rocket which gonna fall in civil area,I give you numbers - during the last operation 4594 rocket fired to Israel, only 769 of them was risked civil area,and iron dome intercepted 753 of them.hope this info help you

S-400 system will never be brought closer to border areas which makes it uneffective still. I am sure it is an defencive preparation against NASR missiles.

I guess you forgot chinese there mate. If you use all on a small military like pakistan then china will be right on your arse. There is a reason india is scared of a two front war. Even patriot missile is accounted for 70-80% accuracy. 400km range is only usefull if radar pick it up at that range. At low attitudes it is easy to evade such systems. Also there is a reason we have anti radiation missiles in our inventory. Also cruise missiles are not mentioned in the news which should tell you the story.

One more banda to think Chinese as their army. Janab Chinese are not directed by Pakistani leadership and generals.
Second during gulf war uS deployed mobile patriotic system, not his own home ABM system, and American standard of sucessful missile interception means, the missile is completely distroyed in air and if the ballastic missile is only damaged or patriotic missile hit the target other than head and middle, it is consider as failure.

Which anti radiation missile in your inventory, from brazil with 25 km range.

Cruise missile and that too subsonic cannot penetrate the low survellance radars and after detection, guns of fighter jet is more than enough to bring them down.
