Jakarta (ANTARA) - The recently launched Indonesian Agency for International Development (Indonesia AID) is projected to intensify its contribution to the global community, according to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
"The agency is expected to support Indonesia's foreign policy to demonstrate to the world that Indonesia is a big country," Indrawati remarked at the launch of Indonesia AID here on Friday.
Minister Indrawati affirmed that Indonesia is a big nation, in terms of its population, geographical position, and economic size.
The country has contributed to maintaining world's peace and shouldered the responsibility of maintaining world order.
According to the minister, Indonesia has disbursed international aid totaling Rp1 trillion in 2018 and apportioned aid funding of Rp2 trillion for 2019.
"The Finance Ministry has worked closely with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and other ministries or institutions to manage the fund," she stated.
The ministry's Director General for Funding and Risk Management, Luky Alfirman, affirmed that Indonesia AID will coordinate the funding collected by ministries and institutions.
The agency will serve as a single entry point for international aid from Indonesia.
"It will coordinate (the foreign aid). A committee will be in place that involves the Finance Ministry, Foreign Ministry, and Bappenas (the National Development Planning Agency) as well to ensure that (aid disbursement) could be more focused and effective," Alfirman stated.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla, in the company of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, and Minister of National Development Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro, launched Indonesia Aid on Friday.
