Not an inch of land to be conceded to India: Major General Rafiqul Islam

Lets build that damn fence and stop all illegal traffic.

That way nobody will have reasons to keep complaining, except the smugglers. Jamatis will of course look for some other reason to keep whining, but they are just comic relief.

This is what we also want. Please build a fence also to stop flooding our rich market with your cursed fencidile.

Stupidity's definition one should learn from your views. You get more and more aid than any one else. And average Indian median income is much more than you. hats why every year so many BD people want to run away from BD to India. Also rajakars made their life hell.

BTW I don't want to bring my self further to your level blaming poor people. :disagree:

More than one million Indians are working in BD. Our condition is far and far better than the Mao-infested India. Why Maobadis are in India? It is only because Indians are very very poor nowhere to be seen in other asian countries.

Better you see the news below to know whether our people go to your cow-dung infested India or go to muslim countries which are rich. BD people remit more than $10 billion every year. But, not a single dollar is from India. But, Indians working in BD are sending millions of dollars to India.

Overseas employment in May drops

Overseas Employment Drops in May
Mashiur Rahaman

Overseas employment in May dropped because of dwindling demand for workers in the country's traditional job markets, government statistics revealed.

During the month a total of 33,239 Bangladeshis secured employment abroad, mostly in the United Arab Emirates, according to data revealed by the state-run Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET). This is a drop by 6.76 percent compared with 35,647 in April

In the fist five months of the current calendar year, the country's overseas employment stood at 168,026 only, a 20 per cent fall over that of the corresponding period of last year.

In January-May of 2009, total overseas employment was 2,12,332, the government statistics elaborated.

"The UAE, oil-rich Gulf state, offered 53 per cent of the month's total employment in May of this year, but it is still down by 8.0 per cent compared with previous month," official of the BMET said.

Besides, our once prime job destination - Saudi Arabia - has remained subdued in workers' recruitment, he said. The Arab kingdom employed only 464 new Bangladeshi workers in last month.

Among other prime employment providing countries, Oman recruited 3350, Singapore 3212, Libya 1625, Bahrain 1759, Lebanon 1502, Qatar 1125 workers in May 2010, the BMET data showed.

Following prime minister's official visit to Malaysia and South Korea last month, recruitment of Bangladeshi workers started showing signs of recovery in these two countries. By the end of last month Malaysia recruited 80 workers while it was only 37 in April 2010.

Similarly, South Korea also hired 89 Bangladeshis in the month while it was only nine in its previous month.

"Visa clearance application for Malaysia and South Korea started in last week of May, which is encouraging for the industry," ministry official told the FE.

Following PM's much-waited visit, South Korean ambassador in Dhaka Taiyoung Cho announced that the employment authority of the East-Asian economic power would employ 24,000 workers this year from 15 countries raising its quota for Bangladeshis.

On the other hand, Malaysian prime minister during Sheikh Hasina's visit assured her that his country would be soft on illegal Bangladeshi workers and promised to remove ban on new recruitment soon.

Ours is not a cow-dung country like India where thousands commit suicide to escape loan sharks. Read what US Ambassador says about BD achievement only yesterday. It is a Daily New Age news. Do you really think our people would go to your poor country to get jobs? A few million people ara working in the middle east, though.

Bangladesh needs to publicise
its achievements abroad: Moriarty
Staff Correspondent

The US Ambassador James F Moriarty said on Wednesday that Bangladesh has to make a lot of efforts to publicise the positive stories of its achievements over the last two decades to change its 創egative image・abroad.

Bangladesh, he told a seminar, has certainly some positive stories to tell the world.

He said that branding Bangladesh and Bangladeshis aboard can play a vital role in boosting trade, increasing foreign investment and fostering economic growth, he said.

American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh and Eastern Bank Ltd jointly hosted the seminar on 腺randing Bangladesh, chaired by AmCham president Aftab-ul-Islam.

Managing director and chief executive officer of Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd Aly Zaker, Bangladesh Brand Forum chief adviser professor Syed Ferhat Anwar amd AmCham vice president Khalid Hasan made separate multimedia presentations on social and cultural aspects of branding Bangladesh, its approach and strategic direction and the role of media in branding a nation.

Moriarty said that as he cited that Bangladesh痴 economy grew by 5 to 7 per cent a year over the past two decades he could literally watch the jaws dropping around the room.

This story of steady economic progress, he said, just did not match with the image of Bangladesh, in the US, as an impoverished country, vulnerable to famine and natural disasters and highly dependent on foreign assistance.

He said throughout period of steady economic growth and innovative development, Bangladesh sharply reduced poverty rates while making impressive progress in a range of educational and health indicators.

Bangladesh, he said, developed a world class readymade garments industry that demonstrates it is a player to be reckoned with in the global market place.

Despite all this, he said, the images of Bangladesh that appear on the CNN or BBC are all too often the images of natural disasters, poverty and suffering.

He described the Bangladeshi diaspora in the US and Bangladesh痴 business community, both at home and abroad, as two resources that can help the country establish and sustain a positive brand.

Bangladesh, he said, should be doing more to increase and expand these people -to-people ties.

A concerted effort to develop a Brand Bangladesh can help convey a more accurate image of Bangladesh, he said.

Khalid Hasan said that the image of Bangladesh, once known as a country of beggars, natural calamities and political unrest, was changing to a country of business.

He called for setting up of a 鮮ational Branding Cell・with all political leaders headed by a minister for branding the nation in five years.

^^^ LOL, sure there are 'some positive'developments in your bull crap infested country, and good for you, now you belong to the developed world with per capita half of ours. Well done, what hyperbole won't achieve!!!

Hey how come your developed nation is not building a fence but India is? Let me guess, when you chest thump, words come out, not cash LOL

The Bengalis thought they were smart when they wanted independence in 1971. They thought Indians were their friends and wanted the best for them but now they have seen India's true face. How they were fooled. Now they have independence, they are suffering at the hands of the Indians. Indians pushing them around left and right. Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world now because of India. Jinnah foresaw how cruel the Indians would be but the Bengalis didn't respect him enough to listen to his wise words. The Bengalis should have thought of the consquences of their actions in 1971.

M.A Jinnah died when Pakistan was only one year old. Had he been alive longer then perhaps history would have turned out little diffrent all together nevertheless United Pakistan wasn't meant to be....;)

Two former wings of Pakistan can unite on common ground against common enemy.

yes he died early but generations like mine adhere to every value bequeathed upon us by our nation founder.

Pakistan is united now, and we are happy with what we have. Alhamdolillah, God has been kind to us.

India pushing left and right to everybody including current day Pakistan. Dont worry about it and we will take care of everybody and been doing it since 1947. We faught against everybody.... ;)

for a country sinking into the sea 300 square miles must definately mean alot. well if the general gets 2 talkative we always have burma to sort out the bangladeshis. or maybe we cld just return them 2 pakistan and watch the 2 "brothers" kill each other out of love lol

.
on the Pakistani street, there's no lost love. Bangladesh is after all, a Muslim country therefore they are our brothers.

There's some bad blood here and there; but it doesnt really change anything. We have trade councils with them, we have good military relations with them. More can be done, and hopefully it will.

You would think Pakistanis would hate Bangladesh for what happened in 1971. But in the end, it was never meant to be. We made our mistakes, as did they. The indians used terrorism tactics to fuel divisions, yet they cry when Kashmiris rebel against them.

Pakistan is Pakistan, and always will be Pakistan. The idea, the concept, the revolution has been around way before 1947, and it saw fruition in 1947.

Alhamdolillah. We are happy with what we have now, ours is a God-gifted country with much more potential to grow and prosper. We wish the best to Bangalis and their country.

Just stand up for your rights; dont let indian push you around. Stand up and always be ready for the worst case scenario. That's how you keep enemy in check. Know how enemy thinks and know their actions before they carry them out. That is what has kept us safe, and it would be the same case for you (Bangali) as well
