True...Cracked me up that someone could actually believe the US would suffer so much casualties that we would 'cut' our losses and negotiate for another ceasefire. If SKR invade the North, it will be for the total defeat and erasure of the political entity called 'North Korea'. The US would offer SKR everything short of nuclear to achieve that goal.

if south korea invades the north, not supporting the north means we lose the entire yellow sea region and the 1st island chain is 100 km off our coast at korea, instead of 500 km out at japan.

in this case, artillery in hardened bunkers can attack seoul and inflict enough civilian casualties to severely diminish south korean's production ability.

also, testing doesnt mean deployed, that takes a few more years, they should be in service in 2012-2015.

who says we have to fight the USAF though? if it came to a general counterattack on south korea the US would likely cut its losses and try to negotiate a peace treaty that let's south korea keep as much land as possible, rather than fight for a relatively unimportant, at least compared to japan, place.

China has already stated that it will let SK occupy North Korea first, and only if nobody wants to occupy NK will China occupy it.

Artillery? North Korea's artillery won't be much of a help once those JDAMs starts dropping.

The J-11D/E, JH-7B, YFC-1E, H-8/9, etc, are in advanced stages of testing and my guess they will be deployed 2010-2012

China also has carrier aircraft in advanced stages of testing (J-15 and twin-engine J-10C)

But despite all this new stealthy fighters, I doubt they will be used for Korea. I don't get why letting SK occupy NK is such a nuisance.

The article is old. It talks about F-14s, which are retired now. And no mention of F-22s and B-2s which will waltz over NK, bombing targets at will. If we wait another 5 years, we can throw F-35 into the mix as well.

North Korea should stop looking at USA and look in the mirror one day. The world has passed them by while they spend their existence preparing for war. look at the living conditions in NK and then look at the conditions in neighbouring SK. There is no comparison!

NK might be better prepared for war than SK, but SK has long ago won the war.

If you are assuming that F-15K pilots will park their aircraft right in front of the MiGs and let them open fire, then I guess North Korea would "win"

If you are assuming that the K-2 Black Panther somehow jams up and randomly explodes while fighting a T-55, then I guess North Korea would "win"

If you are assuming that one of their men is able to intercept Tomahawk missiles with his AK, then I guess North Korea would "win"
