North East Asian Union? Exploring the potential of an NEA integration

I have also come to realize this , my friend. For a long time i had observed, studied the situation through the securitized lens of the Tokyo-Washington Allied Dictum, and my formal military training, coupled with my graduate training in the United States had helped to cultivate this appreciation for the American Standard. Trust me, being able to live in study in the United States; to live amongst them, to learn amongst them, to teach them, to help shape minds as well as be shaped in return, truly allowed me to have a greater understanding, appreciation of the broader strategic picture. I believe that Japan has learned a lot from the United States and that cannot be denied , but should be recognized and these benefits include (but are not limited to, i shall list only some that come to mind right now):

• Environmental law and protection, Environmental awareness
• Multicultural appreciation, diversity awareness, diversity initiatives
• Constitutional awareness, constitutional transparency, constitutional reflectivity
• Individuality vs collectivity; the appreciation that one can implement an individuality model within the collective paradigm (i believe this is slowly being implemented in Japan)
• Military pride ; pride in one's armed forces
• Global systems networking
  
• Work force harmonization praxis (the Americans introduce a new model that complement's japanese Kaizen methodology -- and that is work diversity initiative; a common theme in HRM policies and procedures, lol).

There are some social qualities in the United States that is commendable, praiseworthy. This indicates the social paradigm that is unique in the United States, as compared to Japan, Korea and China's more homogeneous societies. I believe the United States' model is perfect for reflection in more heterogenous societies' take on diversity initiatives as a necessity for national harmonization. I admire their capitalist culture as well, and believe that a healthy pro market economic culture in Japan, Korea and China is necessary, tho , perhaps there should be more state intervention to prevent predatory capitalism from taking effect.

Besides these domestic-oriented aspects, Japan , China and South Korea must rise above in terms of politic. Perhaps the theme of divisive politics has been an issue that has been seen in Tokyo, Beijing and Seoul -- and we cannot deny the post-war structuralist paradigm in being the catalyst to this. This is why , i believe, ultimately, removal of US military forces from Japan and Korea is not just a political necessity, but a cultural manifest destiny to enable the historical harmony of the region. There is no reason why relations between Tokyo and Washington, Seoul and Washington and Beijing and Washington cannot be productive, cooperative, and respective even after the United States retreats from East Asia. In fact, i would deign to say ---- it might even develop further.

New norms of modalities would be explored, and that may lead to a creative solution plan to current differences on world policie(s).

To this day America is still the most powerful nation in the world by a long stretch which demonstrates their qualities (however one may argue what made them strong e.g. the original values/work ethics are no longer there) and innovation are/were superb. However I see America's culture changing along with its demographic change going from the said capitalist culture to a more socialist/collectivist culture down the line (obama care etc implemented). The reason I believe is because of the ever growing population of Americans whom are from collectivist cultures e.g. latinos/Asians/Africans which in my honest opinion will guide the way for America to an inevitable change towards becoming a Latino/Mixed dominated country like Brazil. The rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer (In America) with the rich people eventually building high concrete walls and private security and the poor will live in 'favelas' or ghettos.

As we can see, In many Western nations, the middle class offsprings of yesterday years are becoming ever increasingly lower class due to lack of competitiveness/ lack of work ethic and being unrealistic in their expectations. Their middle class families of yesterday tells their children that they can do/be anything so the children instead choose to focus on being musicians, artists, organic restaurant owners rather than banking on stability and an honest trade. Even here in Australia, people complain there is no jobs, but in fact there are plenty of jobs, just not the jobs that university graduates want to do because they see themselves as too smart/educated/too up themselves to do those jobs. A lack of competition in this generation of the West is definitely not be beneficial for the Western nations in future years to come which will also affect their foreign policy.

I might have gone a bit off topic there but I believe America's foreign and domestic policy will change far faster than that of Japan/China/Korea (due to social and demographic changes) and it will be the American's who will withdraw on their own accord down the line as the current generation whom are growing older have different outlooks on life compared to those before them. The current generations who will be the leaders of tomorrow simply do not care nor understand why they need to be in other countries thousands of miles from their own.

This is an interesting observation, @retaxis . I do notice this especially amongst my students , many of whom do not have the same national spirit as say their grandparents' generation. Many of the youth in America , especially in college life, tend to have a very elitist entitlement thinking , i can see this real time. Ive noticed this in that many students that i have (who are american born) usually take work study jobs that pay them according to their federal student loan disbursement and these tasks are rather un-specialized, general labor style that don't really motivate risk managment or critical thinking. These include security front desk operator in college security office, library support worker, or collegiate note taker, to even cafeteria support staff. Some of my students who are foreign exchange students from China, India and Japan -- tend to apply to side jobs in addition to federal work study (as supplement) and many of them work in townie (a term we use to refer to college towns, lol) pc stores, hospital or nursing homes, even working as uber drivers 4,5 days a week in the hours between their classes or after classes. Mind you they do this in addition to their work study grants, which tend to be more critical oriented, such as physicals lab student researcher, psychology lab student researcher, et al. That is the thing that i observe. American students , when ever i ask them to sign up for lab research work, they always respond, "you do more and you get paid the same !"

That seems to be the deflecting reason. "You do more and you get paid the same." That theme and mentality resonates, really, and its symbolic. Instead of appraising the lessons of hard, critical work, which correlates with networking, building of strong work culture foundation, there is an erroneous association with it being "paid the same" with menial , general support duties.

The reason I believe is because of the ever growing population of Americans whom are from collectivist cultures e.g. latinos/Asians/Africans which in my honest opinion will guide the way for America to an inevitable change towards becoming a Latino/Mixed dominated country like Brazil.

This is a sharp observation, @retaxis . That there are two leading GOP contenders for president who are of Hispanic (Cuban, to be exact) descent is testament to this observation: Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, both of whom are Republicans, and self-claimed Conservatives.

Suppose you measure by government defence budgets (DoD mostly, and others like NSA, CIA military programs, foreign aide, etc) then yes that's accurate, obviously, by a very long stretch as you say. US taxpayers are indeed highly supportive in funding them ( Charles Rangel Calls for War Tax, Reinstating the Draft ), defence contractors do enjoy an exceptionally high share of nation's economy.

It's also true that the nation was the world's top creditor after WWII, not a surprise since it was the only intact economy that housed the world's largest industrial machine. Then, until Reagan times. And by now, the international position is: News Release: U.S. Net International Investment Position . Ironically, the two WWII defeated nations seem to have taken up the positions.

Though no longer the world's top innovator ( World Intellectual Property Indicators – 2015 Edition ) nor largest industrial machine, by a long stretch, however the nation is still world's top consumer (including public expenditure, defence in particular of course), also by a long stretch. As long as their currency maintains status quo, producers-exporters and moreover creditors will continue to finance. "Exceptionalism" is a concept materialized in its immunity from usual hazards like fiscal deficits, trade deficits, current account deficits ( United States Current Account | 1960-2016 | Data | Chart | Calendar ), public debt ceilings ( U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time ), external liabilities (see above paragraph), unfunded liabilities.​

Absolutely agreed in most senses. However as I stated earlier with the cultural and demographic changes taking place in America. The country will likely become more socialist in nature and may eventually look similar to a nation like Brazil in a few generations. No one can quite predict the future e.g Arab Spring and looking at the current generations of Americans growing up, they don't seem all that interested in foreign policy rather the interest lies more in hedonistic factors like fast cars, latest iPhones, fine dinning, exploring interests at the expense of productivity (sounding like a commie here lol). But one must remember how Rome fell (gluttony and hedonism) and we can see similar patterns developing in America.

JP is dying and will be suck dry in TPP, thats the reason why some Jpese seeking for escape way such as uniting with CN-SK.

But the only way for JP to survive is to stand up and fight against US by herself. Can not hope anothers come and rescue her from being sucked to dry by US in TPP.

Just found a very interesting read on one Chinese site which pretty much sums up the feeling about others at present among normal people of this NEA trio. Personally I agree with most of the writer's observation, and I can see the unbroken ties between the NEA trio brothers invisible from the surface but breathing beneath the comments .

The road to the NEAU is certainly not rosy, and may not even reach there as some ones would argue, but if we look and study those many thousands years of time that this trio have been through together, then there is also a strong reason to conclude that the current predicament over few rocks and some history issues can't be the roadblocks for the future of us for another many thousands years of time ahead.

Luckily for us, the economic foundation is already there. In 2015 Chinese mainland tourists to Japan reached to more than 4.5 million, doubling the number of the previous year and increasing fast. Nowadays the property value of the residents of Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul are no different.

We should also understand and face the hard reality in this world: all countries are opportunist; they will utilize any opportunity presented to them to best pursue own national interest. So we will continue to see some card dealing and shuffling between each other and so forth. As long as we don't do each other the harm to the extent of irreconcilable, like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then any attempt to perpetuate the idea that we are the enemy by faith by others will be doomed to fail before the test of time.

本兔经常浏览各种兔子网站和论坛，很早便发现一个奇妙的问题，哪就是“中日韩”三国的关系。

中日韩三国关系
下面以个人观点叙述下三国眼中的对方：
中国人看日本：挫子、倭奴、战争犯、死敌、叛逆的中华文化学生
中国人看韩国：棒子、自恋狂、夜郎自大、背叛主人的家奴
日本人看中国：东亚病夫、蛮夷化的华夏本土、手下败将
日本人看韩国：家奴造反、三流国家、肮脏卑鄙、无脑喷子
韩国人看中国：贫穷落后、从历史到现实中的韩国手下败将（韩国史书）
韩国人看日本：世仇、刽子手、迟早要加倍奉还（韩国论调）

虽然三国互相看不惯，但是面对其中一国时其余的两国则会组成统一阵线

中韩面对日本：侵略者、国仇、早晚撕碎了你丫的
中日面对韩国：弱智、脑残、附属国而已、整容整傻了吧、世界都是韩国的
日韩面对中国：乡巴佬、土老板、非人类存活的地方（环境、食品等）

当中韩互喷时，日本人大多支持中国：附属国要逆天吗？宗主国教训他吧。韩国有历史？？？
当中日互喷时，韩国人大多支持中国：侵略者的后代，当这是十九世纪吗？那群倭奴
当日韩互喷时，中国人分立很严重，挺韩派：再让他们战败一次，日本人不配存在于东亚
挺日派：韩国有军队吗？好奇

从官方来看，中韩关系友好，中日邦交几乎难以维持；日韩同样互相敌视
从民间来看，中国民间骂日本的多，但几乎都针对日本政府，对韩国人越来越恼怒；韩国民间是挑战两大豪强，既骂日本人靠下半身思考，又嘲讽中国人无智商；

从国际政治来讲，日韩都是美国盟国，是美国亚太布局的主要力量，日本是反华的急先锋，韩国的武力虽然现在只针对朝鲜，可是一旦朝鲜统一，以韩国人的揍性， 以东北亚的国际战略局势，他肯定也是反华的重要一环（东北亚太小，只能允许一个地区霸权的存在，以前是日本，现在是中国，至于思密达们的大韩国梦，他们可 以去火星！）

下面来看下三国的评论：
事情是这个样子的：

某个韩剧看不起中国料理的台词在中国网民间成了热议的话题。此新闻于是引用了中国报纸的新闻内容。

在这个韩剧中男女主角对话说：韩国料理真的是有好多种类耶.中国料理虽然也有好多种，但全是些炒的或炸的。
在微博里中国网民的评价是：「我扔你一脸的北京烤鸭！」「我扔你一脸的烤全羊！」「我扔你一脸的兰州拉面！」

엄연한 사실이다 중일전쟁 당시 일본군은 상해를 거점으로 남경에 무자비한 폭격을 필두로 지상군을 투입하여 힘없는 양민을 30만명 이상 무자비하게 학살한 엄연한 역사적 사실을 지금도 숨기고 있는 파렴치 국가다

悲惨的历史啊。抗日战争当时，日本军队把南京选做了杀人的据点，投入大量地面军队，对手无缚鸡之力的30万良民进行惨绝人寰的屠杀。并且现在都还企图隐藏这段历史。

예전에는 한국이나 중국이나 자신 보다 한참 아래에 있는 존재들이라 사과하는것에 그다지 자존심이 상하지 않았는데 이제는 그만큼 주변국가들이 성장해서 자신들에 견줄만한 경쟁자의 위치가 되니 사과하는것도 슬슬 자존심이 상하기 시작한거임. 우리한테 일본은 아무리 미워도 아시아의 근대화를 이끌어온 형님뻘의 나라였는데 이제 동생들에게 안지려고 바락바락하는 존재로 전락한 꼴을 보니 기분이 묘하고 격세지감이 느껴진다.

以前韩国和中国对于日本来说，都是位于底层的存在，对于这样的存在道歉还不是很伤自尊；但是现在周边国家已经成长为可以和自己匹敌的竞争者，这个时候道歉就很伤自尊了。不管我们怎么讨厌日本，日本都是引领亚洲现代化的大哥，让日本向我们道歉总有一种很神奇的感觉。

Kenny Kong：中日韩三国同属儒家文化圈，并且是对儒家文化吸收比较到位的地区，本可以成为东方文化向西辐射的起点，但三国却不能完全团结起来，笔者认为其中最重要的一个原因就是东亚地理环境的相对封闭性。

向东是茫茫大海，向南是支离破碎的东南亚岛屿，向西是人口密度极低的中国西部，向北就更不用讲了，天寒地冻的。在这个圈子内，资源是不均衡的，实话来讲， 日韩有今日之成就是很了不起的，凭寸土之地，立强盛之国，也正因国小，危机感就大于中国，争夺生存空间和资源的矛盾就愈为突出。

中国国体之大是不容忽视的事实，且做了千百年的宗主国，要说民间平等的看待日韩，对于有历史常识的人应该不会这么看。加之韩国小动作不断，老是抢宗主国的 东西说是自己的，更招人烦，而日本则因前不久趁着宗主国生病身体不好，来宗主国家造反，企图取而代之，不过还是被打跑了，与宗主国结了不小的梁子。日本底 气挺足，虽然上一次打架输了，但是有美国干爹撑腰，很快就恢复元气，家里比较有钱，有点儿看不起两个邻居，总觉得那俩总是拿那些陈芝麻烂谷子的事儿揪着不 放没意思，每每谈到此总是顾左右而言他。

韩国最尴尬了。虽然在国际上还是个有点儿脸面的国家，但夹在中日之间，就多少有些挂不住，没日本有钱，没中国有权，一方面和日本一样有些瞧不上现在相比以 前有些没落的宗主国，一方面又觉得和日本的那场架打的很受侮辱，同宗主国一起谴责日本，还因为危机感总是把宗主国家的东西说成是自己的。

中日韩三国虽然文化相通，但因为历史的梁子，一时间还是很难走到一起，却又因为住的近，不得不处理之间的摩擦。
中日韩之间的竞争关系，要大于合作关系。东亚的繁荣是三者各自繁荣所带来的加法，不能算作是三者通力合作做出的乘法！

抛开政治方面，韩国人和日本人之间，日本人更为友好，更乐意与中国人成为朋友！ 这是个人经历 我住在罗马 这个城市有很多的中国移民，但也有不少来自日韩的。
由于工作原因 我接触过不少的日韩移民，然而和日本人接触一段时间后 都能有不错的关系，甚至成为朋友！ 相反韩国人就没有那么热情，比较封闭，不怎么愿意接触中国人，给人一种很冷的感觉！！

I think one of the main reason Russian and German relations have very little bitter feeling post ww2 was that the Russians were in control of parts of Germany. If ussr/China were in control of parts of Japan and America was in control of the other parts. I personally believe the animosity would severely decrease however China still feel at some stages that they are a victim and the criminal has not served the time for their crime. Just found a very interesting read on one Chinese site which pretty much sums up the feeling about others at present among normal people of this NEA trio. Personally I agree with most of the writer's observation, and I can see the unbroken ties between the NEA trio brothers invisible from the surface but breathing beneath the comments .

The road to the NEAU is certainly not rosy, and may not even reach there as some ones would argue, but if we look and study those many thousands years of time that this trio have been through together, then there is also a strong reason to conclude that the current predicament over few rocks and some history issues can't be the roadblocks for the future of us for another many thousands years of time ahead.

Luckily for us, the economic foundation is already there. In 2015 Chinese mainland tourists to Japan reached to more than 4.5 million, doubling the number of the previous year and increasing fast. Nowadays the property value of the residents of Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul are no different.

We should also understand and face the hard reality in this world: all countries are opportunist; they will utilize any opportunity presented to them to best pursue own national interest. So we will continue to see some card dealing and shuffling between each other and so forth. As long as we don't do each other the harm to the extent of irreconcilable, like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then any attempt to perpetuate the idea that we are the enemy by faith by others will be doomed to fail before the test of time.

本兔经常浏览各种兔子网站和论坛，很早便发现一个奇妙的问题，哪就是“中日韩”三国的关系。

中日韩三国关系
下面以个人观点叙述下三国眼中的对方：
中国人看日本：挫子、倭奴、战争犯、死敌、叛逆的中华文化学生
中国人看韩国：棒子、自恋狂、夜郎自大、背叛主人的家奴
日本人看中国：东亚病夫、蛮夷化的华夏本土、手下败将
日本人看韩国：家奴造反、三流国家、肮脏卑鄙、无脑喷子
韩国人看中国：贫穷落后、从历史到现实中的韩国手下败将（韩国史书）
韩国人看日本：世仇、刽子手、迟早要加倍奉还（韩国论调）

虽然三国互相看不惯，但是面对其中一国时其余的两国则会组成统一阵线

中韩面对日本：侵略者、国仇、早晚撕碎了你丫的
中日面对韩国：弱智、脑残、附属国而已、整容整傻了吧、世界都是韩国的
日韩面对中国：乡巴佬、土老板、非人类存活的地方（环境、食品等）

当中韩互喷时，日本人大多支持中国：附属国要逆天吗？宗主国教训他吧。韩国有历史？？？
当中日互喷时，韩国人大多支持中国：侵略者的后代，当这是十九世纪吗？那群倭奴
当日韩互喷时，中国人分立很严重，挺韩派：再让他们战败一次，日本人不配存在于东亚
挺日派：韩国有军队吗？好奇

从官方来看，中韩关系友好，中日邦交几乎难以维持；日韩同样互相敌视
从民间来看，中国民间骂日本的多，但几乎都针对日本政府，对韩国人越来越恼怒；韩国民间是挑战两大豪强，既骂日本人靠下半身思考，又嘲讽中国人无智商；

从国际政治来讲，日韩都是美国盟国，是美国亚太布局的主要力量，日本是反华的急先锋，韩国的武力虽然现在只针对朝鲜，可是一旦朝鲜统一，以韩国人的揍性， 以东北亚的国际战略局势，他肯定也是反华的重要一环（东北亚太小，只能允许一个地区霸权的存在，以前是日本，现在是中国，至于思密达们的大韩国梦，他们可 以去火星！）

下面来看下三国的评论：
事情是这个样子的：

某个韩剧看不起中国料理的台词在中国网民间成了热议的话题。此新闻于是引用了中国报纸的新闻内容。

在这个韩剧中男女主角对话说：韩国料理真的是有好多种类耶.中国料理虽然也有好多种，但全是些炒的或炸的。
在微博里中国网民的评价是：「我扔你一脸的北京烤鸭！」「我扔你一脸的烤全羊！」「我扔你一脸的兰州拉面！」

예전에는 한국이나 중국이나 자신 보다 한참 아래에 있는 존재들이라 사과하는것에 그다지 자존심이 상하지 않았는데 이제는 그만큼 주변국가들이 성장해서 자신들에 견줄만한 경쟁자의 위치가 되니 사과하는것도 슬슬 자존심이 상하기 시작한거임. 우리한테 일본은 아무리 미워도 아시아의 근대화를 이끌어온 형님뻘의 나라였는데 이제 동생들에게 안지려고 바락바락하는 존재로 전락한 꼴을 보니 기분이 묘하고 격세지감이 느껴진다.

以前韩国和中国对于日本来说，都是位于底层的存在，对于这样的存在道歉还不是很伤自尊；但是现在周边国家已经成长为可以和自己匹敌的竞争者，这个时候道歉就很伤自尊了。不管我们怎么讨厌日本，日本都是引领亚洲现代化的大哥，让日本向我们道歉总有一种很神奇的感觉。

Kenny Kong：中日韩三国同属儒家文化圈，并且是对儒家文化吸收比较到位的地区，本可以成为东方文化向西辐射的起点，但三国却不能完全团结起来，笔者认为其中最重要的一个原因就是东亚地理环境的相对封闭性。

向东是茫茫大海，向南是支离破碎的东南亚岛屿，向西是人口密度极低的中国西部，向北就更不用讲了，天寒地冻的。在这个圈子内，资源是不均衡的，实话来讲， 日韩有今日之成就是很了不起的，凭寸土之地，立强盛之国，也正因国小，危机感就大于中国，争夺生存空间和资源的矛盾就愈为突出。

中国国体之大是不容忽视的事实，且做了千百年的宗主国，要说民间平等的看待日韩，对于有历史常识的人应该不会这么看。加之韩国小动作不断，老是抢宗主国的 东西说是自己的，更招人烦，而日本则因前不久趁着宗主国生病身体不好，来宗主国家造反，企图取而代之，不过还是被打跑了，与宗主国结了不小的梁子。日本底 气挺足，虽然上一次打架输了，但是有美国干爹撑腰，很快就恢复元气，家里比较有钱，有点儿看不起两个邻居，总觉得那俩总是拿那些陈芝麻烂谷子的事儿揪着不 放没意思，每每谈到此总是顾左右而言他。

韩国最尴尬了。虽然在国际上还是个有点儿脸面的国家，但夹在中日之间，就多少有些挂不住，没日本有钱，没中国有权，一方面和日本一样有些瞧不上现在相比以 前有些没落的宗主国，一方面又觉得和日本的那场架打的很受侮辱，同宗主国一起谴责日本，还因为危机感总是把宗主国家的东西说成是自己的。

中日韩三国虽然文化相通，但因为历史的梁子，一时间还是很难走到一起，却又因为住的近，不得不处理之间的摩擦。
中日韩之间的竞争关系，要大于合作关系。东亚的繁荣是三者各自繁荣所带来的加法，不能算作是三者通力合作做出的乘法！

抛开政治方面，韩国人和日本人之间，日本人更为友好，更乐意与中国人成为朋友！ 这是个人经历 我住在罗马 这个城市有很多的中国移民，但也有不少来自日韩的。
由于工作原因 我接触过不少的日韩移民，然而和日本人接触一段时间后 都能有不错的关系，甚至成为朋友！ 相反韩国人就没有那么热情，比较封闭，不怎么愿意接触中国人，给人一种很冷的感觉！！

I think you're hinting towards the fact that both Japan and China are both undergoing structural reforms , which , upon realization, may lead to systemic ability to broaden cooperative and rapproachment processes. China is currently undergoing judicial review and reform, corporate reform, environmental reform, not to mention infrastructure related reform, which aims to permeate wealth into the interior of the country, transitioning importance from merely the coastal regions of the continental state to the entire breadth of China, this includes interior and western provinces. Then, yes. In regards to Japan, i think you are referring to the current legislative and constitutional review reforms that must be completed, in tandem with Abe's economic reforms, which are hard to swallow right now, but is ultimately necessary to realize pro-active economic growth in succeeding years. Both China and Japan are at the cusp of national modernization and reformation , definitely, and with these, can present new and host of opportunities for greater , streamlined integration , that goes beyond just the economic FTA plan that is visaged by Seoul, Beijing and Tokyo, and into the over-arching security and strategic cooperative praxis. I believe that is what you were referring to , right, @yoshi.oda ?

[General Observer]

To this day America is still the most powerful nation in the world by a long stretch which demonstrates their qualities (however one may argue what made them strong e.g. the original values/work ethics are no longer there) and innovation are/were superb. However I see America's culture changing along with its demographic change going from the said capitalist culture to a more socialist/collectivist culture down the line (obama care etc implemented). The reason I believe is because of the ever growing population of Americans whom are from collectivist cultures e.g. latinos/Asians/Africans which in my honest opinion will guide the way for America to an inevitable change towards becoming a Latino/Mixed dominated country like Brazil. The rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer (In America) with the rich people eventually building high concrete walls and private security and the poor will live in 'favelas' or ghettos.

As we can see, In many Western nations, the middle class offsprings of yesterday years are becoming ever increasingly lower class due to lack of competitiveness/ lack of work ethic and being unrealistic in their expectations. Their middle class families of yesterday tells their children that they can do/be anything so the children instead choose to focus on being musicians, artists, organic restaurant owners rather than banking on stability and an honest trade. Even here in Australia, people complain there is no jobs, but in fact there are plenty of jobs, just not the jobs that university graduates want to do because they see themselves as too smart/educated/too up themselves to do those jobs. A lack of competition in this generation of the West is definitely not be beneficial for the Western nations in future years to come which will also affect their foreign policy.

I might have gone a bit off topic there but I believe America's foreign and domestic policy will change far faster than that of Japan/China/Korea (due to social and demographic changes) and it will be the American's who will withdraw on their own accord down the line as the current generation whom are growing older have different outlooks on life compared to those before them. The current generations who will be the leaders of tomorrow simply do not care nor understand why they need to be in other countries thousands of miles from their own.

Good analysis. However, I believe you're underestimating the conservative attitude of the US populace. The politics and economy of the United States have been deeply rooted around war, because it drives profits. As a side effect, it has given the general public a sense of global police dog responsibility, where they believe any global affair is their affair. If you look back at US history, you'll see that the country averages a war every twenty years.

Progressiveness in America is not quite how we might perceive it in commonwealth countries. Due to the nature of the two-party politics in America, it creates a situation where everything is very extreme; either you're far left or you're far right. Although Obamacare sounds like a fine plan on paper, the Republican torn apart version of Obamacare resembles nothing of the Obamacare that Obama first conceived. In essence, everything that one party does is blocked or ripped apart by the opposing party.

What I am trying to say I guess, is that the US has very conservative forces in play. There are so many issues so deeply rooted in the system, that they may never go away. As much as the country is making strides in appearing more liberal on paper, the country will never become something more that a progressive book cover in their politics. What you are suggesting, would only happen if you ripped apart the constitution and started the country ground up.
