No regrets over Lal Masjid: Musharraf

“dictatorship lies in the brain, and it is a mindset and uniform has got nothing to do with it”. -- Musharraf.

Musharraf is RIGHT.

He did NOT rule like a dictator. Rather he appeared as ruler as per true Islamic Spirit!

He always openly made consultations with different segments on nearly all the important issues.

He really did not act like a dictator!

luf... i only wanted to say tht we could have caught these f*ckers without an Ops.... with cut every human necessity.Which would have forced em to come out and surrender.
You are ridiculing other memberss here but your own opinion is I think mot ridiculous. Terrorits were tougher than common civilians and they were definately prepared for holding few months. It were the hostages who had to suffer most if the necesities were not supplied. And the terrorists could respond with killing the civilianss one by one to blackmail government if necessities were stopped.

I agree with Pakistani Nationalist on this. The situation could have tackled more wisely. It wasn't heroic or bold of Musharaf but pressure from Politicians like Imran Khan and western media and USA, the triggers were pressed.

I believe there is no significant proof that the Red Mosque operation brought backlash. Most of the suicidal attacks are targeting public and very few on Military. Red Mosque chapter is closed and people should move on.

Mulvi's with guns and threats will always equal to violence and Fanaticism, Seriously if cutting of supplies to these mindless animals would have resulted in them acting on BASIC instinct which is the jungle rule, and they were already running out of time, A operation was highly necessary,

I see many people making ill comments on Musharraf's decisions but just for once ask your self If you were in his place and a made a different choice and more or less causalities in your plan happened, Would you be considered a patriot? a Hero? or a Dictator?....

Seriously whoever thought that in the midst of armed to the teeth fanatical extremists there were going to be no casualties/damage and that this could have been averted by simple talk (yeah like 3 months of talking wasn't enough? and how these extremists set up defensive parameters and started to damage civilian buildings there was still room for talk?) really needs to sit in wise men or get a mental evaluation.

I dont think any Govt would have allowed the Lal Masjid rabble to continue unabated for very long.Perhaps we could have involved the courts to give more legality to the move but ultimately the response would have been the same.

The issue is still very controversial
many common people of Pakistan thinks that it was a masjid and operation was not a good act .
.
they deserved punishment but this issue can also be solved without operation
.
as terrorist are using this operation as a toll to make common people extremist

That was only the climax the whole drama continued for a months..
it all started with kidnapping of Chinese and continue including assault on paramilitary forces, snatching their arms and radios, destroying their vehicle and than continued to beating police officers and religious scholars, declining all negotiations and finally started killing army jawans with sniper shots.
There were intelligence news that more foreigners are crossing in from Afghanistan to start a war in Islamabad and vested media was radicalizing the public opinion, which was favoring those a$$holes, couple of days more than whole Islamabad may have become battle ground.
