DALLAS: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has said that those who were killed in Islamabad’s Lal Masjid were terrorists and insisted that no woman was killed during that operation, adding that out of 150 only 94 terrorists, including two foreign nationals, were killed in the July 2007 encounter.

The former president was addressing a public meeting of All Pakistan Muslim League in Dallas on Saturday. The former general dwelt at length on Pakistan’s political situation and the issues of Dr Qadeer and Taliban.

Musharraf clarified that he had never apologised for the Lal Masjid episode. According to him, Lal Masjid was a “den of terrorists” and as a head of state it was his duty to restore the writ of the state. He said that the government tried its best to settle the Masjid issue peacefully. “We also invited the Imam of Ka’aba for mediation, but all in vain. Since, we never wanted to turn Pakistan into a Taliban state, we took action”.

“I have apologised on the issue of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which I had to accept on the advice of my political advisers.”

The former president said that when he was in uniform, people called him a dictator. Pointing at himself, he said that “dictatorship lies in the brain, and it is a mindset and uniform has got nothing to do with it”.
Referring to Dr Qadeer’s confession, the former dictator termed the nuclear scientist “a liar”, adding that Dr Qadeer “sold” nuclear secrets to three countries and he (Musharraf) had valid proof.

Denying that his government had harassed the nuclear scientist, he said that whatever Dr Qadeer had said on television he had done so voluntarily and he was not forced to do so, said Musharraf.

“I saved Dr Qadeer because he is a national hero, and I also consider him national hero,” he said, adding: “It is also a fact that he (Qadeer) made mistakes.”

The public meeting was also addressed by Coordinator of APML’s Dallas coordinator Javed Siddiqui. As many as 500 people attended the public meeting.

Earlier, General Musharraf was received by party leaders Ameer Sukhano, Dr Hassan, Dr Tasnim Agha, Naeem, Nadeem Akhter Azeem Siddiqui Tanvir Malik, Dr Arjumand, Khalil Qureshi Muhammad Ali Siddiqui, Nadem Chaudhry and others.

Tehreek-i-Insaf local chapter staged a peaceful demonstration against the former dictator.

musharraf had been the best if he had not allowed the snake and jackel in afghanistan..

.
those nut heads were given enough chance , its a clear mesage to those who think they can sit in a mosque and rant anti state junk and they will get away with any thing ...... for the fundos this is a message that there are few people out there who will not let them do against the writ of the state and action will be taken

Glad he did it otherwise Islamabad would have met the fate that Swat came to.

So what did you expect him to do? Let Islamabad be a safe haven for them?

How old r u? U dont have the basic understanding of such Ops and there reactions!

The red mosque Ops could have been averted very easily if we had just laid a siege of the madrassah, waited for them to come out of there holes ..... they wouldnt have survived without the basic necessities of life for more then a week or 2... even a month!

No electricity,no food,no water for drinking(no running water),no telephone can make even the toughest mofo come to his knees in summer!

Sleep on it!

There were hostages and hijackers were foreigners.
They may very well have eaten the hostages one by one rather than giving up.
In no way media would have allowed to suspend the food supplies.
I have all the reasons to believe that master minds of terrorists were planning their release and may very well have been assembled in Islamabad.
Any such situation may have been out of control and would have left many civilians and hostages dead.
Anyhow, their was a siege which made them desperate and they fired upon police and army soldier, killing them.
I think that proved to be the decisive moment and storming of hostel finalised.

i'm 11 and a half years old, thank you very much.

set an example for the terrorists. HEY PAKISTANI'S, "THIS" is what happens when you join a terrorist group in this country. this is such an important time in this countrys history and even if it was as you say supposed to be a siege, there would be more lal musjid
incidents

and what about hostages? you think they would let them go?

Lastly a question from you.
Why didn't those terrorists go to Supreme Court for their demands?

luf... i only wanted to say tht we could have caught these f*ckers without an Ops.... with cut every human necessity.Which would have forced em to come out and surrender.

Liebe Luft.....What demands!
Shall they be allowed extra judicial powers?
Or their own supreme court, army and ministries?

Sadly, the anti Pakistan trica of iftikhar ch., Zardari and N.Sharif quitely set free the burqa clad terrorist.

These bastards were keeping children hostage... while parents were begging for the return of their children.
i remember, Idiot Ghazi took pride in replying via media to such requests..... i'm not holding them they are free to choose!!!!!!!!! and those children are staying back of their own accord.
This a$$whole was suppose to be drilled only for this comments.

Terrorists are brainwashed to fight to the death.

Hence, suicide bombers and other what not. Maybe these guys were a different group. Who cares? Terrorists are terrorists.

The one who hit bin Ghazi shrine in Karachi was an addict 15year old kid, kidnapped from his house months ago.
While this remains a new turn in the variety of suicide bombers.

Point in saying is that whole drama is not limited to brain washing alone... there is scientific approach to it as well.... while for brain washing one need kids and source of kids is either poor people, parent-less kidnapped kids and now addicts as well.
