Nothing will happen. These gorkhas in IA are Indians and not nepalese so as the thousands of gorkhas who live in india. We never inducted nepalese citizens in our army. Gorkhas in india are very much indian as other people of different ethnic groups

So nepal used to export Gorkhas to India/UK armies?

1. Its 60:40 ratio, 60% of Indian Gurkhas and 40% of Nepalese.

2. Its 100% impossible for the Nepalese govt. to implement this ban as the Nepalese Gurkhas will simply migrate to India and will join the Indian Army from here.

As there is no travel restriction for Neplese people to visit India and they even don't need Visa.

3. Even if it got implemented then its good for Indian Gurkhas as they will got 100% of job instead of 60% in the Gurkha regiment.

4. Last but not the least its not that we are dependent on any foreign country for our defense but its just our gesture to provide employment to Nepalese people by recruiting them in the army. We were just helping a land locked friendly country.

India can still recruit them, many people forgot that Indo-Nepal border is open. And Nepalese can visit and stay in India indefinitely without any documentation. If publicized, thousands will turn up to participate in Indian Army recruitment drives in India.

Heck we used go to Kakarvita to play cricket matches once or twice a month, that should give you the message.

That's weird. Only Nepali nationals will feel the pinch. There are millions of ethnic Gurkhas living all over northern and northeastern belt of India. They're prominent here in Sikkim, in Uttarakhand, eastern Himachal belt, northern Assam-Meghalaya belt etc.

I don't really see how they'd stop coming in. Besides, a lot of them are Indo-Nepalis (by the virtue of their parents being on Indian side and Nepali side). What about them?

FYI Nepal citizens were allowed to serve in the IA at least until 2005(may be they are serving even today IDK).

From news what I got is, Nepal don't want there civilian to work for UK and India. In the era when job creation is real pain in a$$, how come some country can pass some judgement like this?

you are wrong we do induct nepalee gurkha in our army the no is around 30000
i may be wrong but gurkha regiment is among the best in IA
the best league of regiments would be sikh jaat gurkhas and rajpoots
