I don't know about hindu culture or religious values but Muslims ruled India for a 1000 years and instilled charitable values in society. Sikhism also has similar values. To help those weaker than us is what separates us from Animals.

Historically all good Kings of the kingdoms which today form India, regardless of religion, they looked after thier subjects. The Indian government must do the same.

Financial crisis reduced a farmer in Sehore's Basantpur Pangri village in Madhya Pradesh to use his two daughters, instead of oxen to pull the plough in their fields.

Sardar Kahla claimed that his family does not have enough money to buy or take care of oxen for ploughing.

"I do not have enough money to buy or take care of bulls for ploughing. Both my daughters quit their schooling due to financial crisis," farmer said.

Meanwhile, District Public Relation Officer Ashish Sharma said that the administration is looking forward into the matter and a proper help would be given to him under governmental schemes.

"The farmer has been instructed not to use children for such activities. Whatever help he can be given under governmental schemes, administration is looking into it," Sharma said.

Both daughters Radhika, 14 and Kunti, 11 years quit their education due to lack of money or financial support.

Several farmers have committed suicide in the state due to financial crisis.

Recently, Mandsaur became the epicenter of a farmers' agitation over a demand for loan waivers and better prices for their produce.

During the agitation, six farmers were gunned down by the police, thereby drawing criticism from political parties. The situation forced the district officials to impose Section 144, and restricted prominent personalities from visiting the violence-hit district. -- ANI

Constitution of India as given rights to Citizens of India to decide who should lead them and we are exercising those rights and electing our leaders, so its left to Indians to decide Socialist or Capitalist.

Those who achieved what they dreamed are became Billionaires and its no where connected to farmer daughters pulling plows.

In India every state government has schemes to help poor farmers, they should contact their nearby GP Office or contact their respective PDOs to learn and utilize those facilities instead of risking their children's life.

Further, some people do it as fun, if you read the faces of the girls, doest not reflect pain or agony rather a smile is there.
For example, if a guy do not have the bulls, he might ask his neighbours or fellow villagers for borrowing of bulls. People are not cruel up to this extent that they will refuse him. May be someone could lend him a pair of bulls on the condition that he have to bear the feed/water for pair for that period.

This is indeed a situation that gives us a wake up call doesn't it? As much as one likes this shouldn't be a Pakistan vs India discussion rather a Rich vs Poor discussion. It certainly applies to Pakistan and India both; it even applies to Bangladesh and many others. You know there is enough wealth in each of these countries to address the situation from within the system but no one seem to care even when someone does take an initiative there are trust issues. We need to change attitudes on individual levels and do our part without worrying about whether it would or would not make a difference. God bless us all!

Does local bureaucracy and corruption hinder access to these services or their resources? Is the support good enough? Is knowledge of the service available good enough? This has become a fad. I have a popular Govt in Odisha which is neither BJP nor Congress. Its BJD led by Naveen Pattnaik. Both the opposition are BJP and Congress and they don't leave an opportunity to embarrass him.

After Dana Majhi incident, state govt has provided ambulances for many unapproachable areas. But still people refuse only to get some money from Govt. or public who sympathies with them. Some unscrupulous journalist asks them to lift the bodies of their near and dear on road or on cycle or rickshaw and pose for photos.

They are illiterates and lure of some easy money drives them to this. They don't know the larger conspiracy behind this and don't know that they are being used. Come whatever Govt., opposition will with media collusion will bring out such picture and news.

I have known from trusted journalist friends of mine of how villagers put poison on the lips/or mouth of dead farmers (the cause of death or suicide may be something else).

I don't know, but the picture in the news clearly shows that health of girls does not allow them to move the plough a feet. That was purely a photo by some fellow with an ulterior motive.

But its in the news paper, so now the person will get some money out of which major share of that will go to the person who made it and printed it.

1. Its not defensive words its confirmative sentences as i know what is happening in grass root level.
2. Its true, but reasons should be ascertained as farm loans are generally misused in rural areas. eg : Govt had provided good quality of 2" PVC pipes on subsidized rates for better water arrangements for irrigation's. But unnecessary farmers bought it and sold in black market, creating problems to needy peoples.
3. GP office in each panchayath is one pooling place for all sorts of information's. which is easily accessible to every villagers.
4. Corruptions are everywhere, but for past few years people coming out vocally against it and are expecting more from bureaucracy, forcing them to implement projects which earlier not materialized.
5. PDOs are forced to reach out each houses in villages and regular surveys on needs/shortcomings of farmers are gathered to provide better facilities, its a good sign as earlier villagers had to visit GP offices to meet PDOs.
6. with use of better IT & communication facilities they have gone far ahead in sharing information's. you might aware that Govt is connecting all the GP with Broadband internet connections.
7. Govt is providing facilities but utilization is depends on peoples. we can't blame on govts for our faults.
