No money to buy bulls, farmer deploys daughters to pull plough:

Financial crisis reduced a farmer in Sehore's Basantpur Pangri village in Madhya Pradesh to use his two daughters, instead of oxen to pull the plough in their fields.

Sardar Kahla claimed that his family does not have enough money to buy or take care of oxen for ploughing.

"I do not have enough money to buy or take care of bulls for ploughing. Both my daughters quit their schooling due to financial crisis," farmer said.

Meanwhile, District Public Relation Officer Ashish Sharma said that the administration is looking forward into the matter and a proper help would be given to him under governmental schemes.

"The farmer has been instructed not to use children for such activities. Whatever help he can be given under governmental schemes, administration is looking into it," Sharma said.

Both daughters Radhika, 14 and Kunti, 11 years quit their education due to lack of money or financial support.

Several farmers have committed suicide in the state due to financial crisis.

Recently, Mandsaur became the epicenter of a farmers' agitation over a demand for loan waivers and better prices for their produce.

During the agitation, six farmers were gunned down by the police, thereby drawing criticism from political parties. The situation forced the district officials to impose Section 144, and restricted prominent personalities from visiting the violence-hit district. -- ANI

Take his daughters from him and rehabilitate them somewhere else...child cruelty to say the least...

What a sorry state of affairs. I'm going to tag Shivraj Singh Chauhan about this sh!t.

Alas! These poor kids - life is hard sometimes. Poor farmers used to pull the plough some 3-4 decades ago disregarding whether they were their sons or daughters or themselves pulling it. Individual units in any state were not that integrated as it is today. I think each society should look after their poor and invest something back into people they profit from - rich only exists because of the poor.

Indeed very bad, India is still developing country, we have to work hard to provide means to weakest of our society that is paramount importance

Do we need this excuse of developing country ?
Do we ?
Irrespective of who rules them in their state ,they have been always like this ,Right?
When we got independence ,Southern states like TN,Kerala were facing even far worse poverty than this .
Now look at those southern states .
Congress,NDA, BJP and other parties ruled these states yet they were always good in development .

Its about people and their mentality .
Instead of filling those UP ,Bihar belt voffin we should have invest all those money in our region

OP who posted this article is an idiot. That is why he dragged BJP for nothing .?
Around 50+ years Congress ruled these states ,so they share majority of problems .

.
Its ok, Modi can fake GDP growth numbers again for shining India. These matter more then appaling poverty.

Why should you blame govt and nation?
The govt and its administration represent the same people of the state .

It is the inability of the people that they cant respond against the inability of the govt .

Its ok, Modi can fake GDP growth numbers again for shining India. These matter more then appaling poverty.

A village in MP doesnt represent entire India

Its not question of one village, we need to acknowledge we are still developing and will take more time to complete social development, Our HRD index is not something we can boast.

I'm not saying we are not making progress, but we can certainly do better and it would require partnership of Government - Public .

People can respond to government inability to provide wither through ballot or through guns, we are fortunate majority of people choose former even after so much nepotism and corruption

Could have been inspired by the 1957 Indian movie "Mother India". The tragedy is its been 60 years since this movie was shot but things have not changed much for the Indian farmers.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the fact that they are undoubtedly facing a difficult situation, but people have done much worse to their children (like asking them to beg on the streets). I think this family is working hard to survive and they are doing it together. I would rather help the father so that he could take care of his family better.

Its a grass root level problem irrespective of politics.

I had few bitter experiences in handling few villages in Shimoga, Karnataka. we made a master plan for overall village development under 50 years of Karnataka state formation programme and approached the village head & GP members for inputs thinking they will help in our deed but instead they were only interested in money they will get out of it. They even refused to give permissions to implement our projects like pond desilting, rain water harvesting, toilets & bio gas plants as their interests are not taken care off. I was forced to remove some of the villages from welfare projects due to this.

but for past 10 years things are changing. I am happy with that, if we continue in present way development we will see a huge turn around in rural economy.

Finally, no Farmer is poor, instead its society around him made him look like poor. instead of loan wave-off give him right price and rights that's enough.
