After $100 billion in losses compared to only $18 billion received in aid and 60000+ people killed in the war on terror and this is what we get we should seriously consider relations with the United States. America is merely the big bully of the world and it always has been.

How come buttressing Pakistan, a country that has perennially been at a position of relative strategic disadvantage both economically and militarily by virtue of its relative smaller size, result in destabilizing South-Asia? If anything, it tends to balance out the increasingly dis-coherent strategic equation between the two countries and contributes towards establishing a semblance of parity, leading to reduced potential of future military engagement between the belligerent rivals.

Because Pakistan is not a rational actor. It carries a chip on its shoulder which almost forces Pakistan to behave in a defined and now predictable manner.

Each time the US gives these economic bonanza's in both forms - economic support as well as military aid, in any substantial amount, Pakistan uses this to declare war against India and change even the little stability that South Asia has. Its military planners always devise some way in which in their minds Pakistan's strategic disadvantage(in your words) gets neutralized and Pakistan comes out on top.

In 1965, bolstered by treaties of SEATO and CENTO, US aid in massive quantities and US supplied military weapons, Pakistan military started a war to capture Kashmir.
In 1999, once against Pakistan launches a war.

It is not me, but your Military establishment who you must question, over why they continue to do so.

Ergo, from empirical evidence, it is clear that arming or aiding Pakistan will lead to no other outcome than instability in South Asia.

Don't just pray. Start a campaign and force your Government and military to stop requesting aid. Go out and do something.

lol, we Pakistani voted for people like Nawaz Sharif because he suspended aid programs in Punjab and promissed he will never accept aids, but when he become PM he did nothing, same about Imran Khan he is too anti aid but never heard anything from him on issues, bcoz he is more interested in kicking nawaz out so he can become PM in his late 60's otherwise dosra chance nahi milay shayed..

U.S aid is nothing but a pain

We are at war with India, giving weapons with strings attached so we cant harm our main enemy is worthless.


Keep on the growth trajectory and obtain the weapons from alternatives or build ourselves

In the meantime let the Americans know we have limited funds and can only take action against our most hostile enemies

Being emotional is not gonna help.

It's there money to give or not. Instead of drama every other day the US and Pakistan should both agree on stopping all military aid to Pakistan.
While Pakistan should insist on getting it's dues for the use of it's infrastructure and road and airways by the US/NATO alliance.

WASHINGTON: Key members of Congress are not prepared to support military aid to Pakistan without some specific actions and the Obama administration has to follow their decision, says the US State Department.

At a Thursday afternoon news briefing in Washington, a State Department official, Elizabeth Trudeau, pointed out that the US administration also wanted Pakistan to act against the Haqqani network.

“Key members of Congress have been clear they’re not prepared to support US military aid to Pakistan absent some specific actions,” she said.

I agree with the fact that this will put a boot up the rear of many PAF seniors and they may leave their lazy chairs to actually put together a strategy. But remember, @MastanKhan and I've been saying this for two-three years now, Pakistan needed a third party's Heavies or MMRCA.......why wait till the last minute when someone CLEARLY has to tell your military leaders to eff off? The lines were there for everyone to read. The next thing may be sanctions to be honest!!

And you can never blame the US for your own short-sight of the future strategy YOUR country and its military has to build (talking about the PAF here). The US is a super power and she will maintain whatever relationships she thinks are necessry for her interests. Pakistanis forget that and keep getting sucked into this illusion of........
