From what I read on this forum, the Pakistanis send in armed infiltrators and Indians in turn fire at the Pakistanis who retaliate and then both parties cry foul? Why doesn't the UN have an observor mission in such a volatile area which is the LoC?

they do have an observer mission, they occasionally visit our side of the LOC and have a look, but India has not allowed the observers on its own side.
