Says crushing anarchy, chaos a virtue; not afraid of sit-ins; asks how they could have exposed PTI without letting it form govt in KP; Karachi-Peshawar motorway to be completed in 2018; Dar says all economic indicators positive

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that no corruption scandal has surfaced during his tenure. He said crushing anarchy and chaos is a virtue and he is not afraid of sit-ins.

He said despite having numerical strength, the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) allowed the formation of a coalition government in Balochistan. He said they could have formed an alliance with the JUI-F and made the government but they allowed the PTI to form the government in KP. He asked how they could expose the real face of the PTI if the latter was not allowed to form the government in KP. He said now the PTI stands exposed as it failed to fulfill its pledges of bringing about a change in KP.

He also announced that the Karachi operation will continue till achievement of all of its objectives and to the satisfaction of each and every Karachiite. He said the country’s biggest water reservoir – Bhasha Dam – will be built through domestic resources at the cost of Rs1,400 billion without taking any foreign funds. The dam will also be the biggest source of power at the cheapest tariff, he said.

The prime minister, who is seeking uplifting of economy projects these days, said this in his address to the 40th export awards ceremony of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here at the Pak-China Friendship Centre on Thursday.

He said the government had achieved significant progress in tackling the major challenges confronting Pakistan. The prime minister said that against 18 hours of loadshedding before 2013, the government had been able to eliminate loadshedding for the industry and the menace would also be over for domestic consumers by 2018. The government is even planning beyond 2018 as Pakistan has to move forward irrespective of who is in power.

Nawaz said no government in the past tried to seriously address the challenge of terrorism but the present government took it heads-on. The back of terrorists has been broken and their remnants would also be taken to task, he said. He said Pakistan has a better future as the government has also taken measures to address the challenge of lawlessness in Karachi, resulting in resumption of normal life in the mega city and the momentum built so far would be taken forward.

The lights of Karachi have been restored to a great extent, he said. The prime minister pointed out that exports last month grew by 6.2% as compared to the same month last year due to provision of uninterrupted power supply, announcement of zero rated export facility for five sectors and sales tax refunds of 45 billion rupees besides an improvement in the overall law and order situation.

He said businessmen should take full advantage of the improved situation and increased exports. The prime minister said the government would provide all possible incentives to the industry and farmers to increase production and exports. He said it would be a priority of the government to take measures to bring down the cost of business. He said the government is also concentrating on the revival of national institutions like the Pakistan Railways and PIA.

The CPEC, especially the development of Gwadar, would prove to be a game changer and it will have tremendous impact on the overall development of Balochistan, he said. Nawaz reminded the guests amid a thunder of applause that major portions of Karachi to Peshawar six-lane motorway would be completed by 2018. The Karachi-Hyderabad section would be ready in six months and contract is being awarded for the Hyderabad-Sukkur section while Multan-Lahore and Karachi-Peshawar segments are under-construction, he said.

Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said that after achieving macro-economic stability, the focus of the government was now on growth. The country has achieved eight year’s highest GDP growth rate last year and 7% target has been fixed for 2019.

Senator Dar said that it was because of successful implementation of the economic charter of the government that today all economic indicators were positive. The finance minister said that economic achievements of the government are globally acknowledged and foreign investors are now looking towards Pakistan for investment. The Suzuki company plans to invest 460 million dollars while other companies are poised to invest 450 million dollars in livestock and 240 million dollars in electronic industry, he said.

He said foreign exchange reserves today stand at 23 billion dollars while Pakistan Stock Exchange is one of the best performing markets of the world. He said it was because of the economic stability that China initiated the CPEC project.

The finance minister said the country was progressing under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but some elements were trying to create obstacles at the behest of some foreign powers. Such elements are opposed to the progress and prosperity because they are afraid that they would be discarded by the people in the 2018 polls but they wouldn’t be permitted by the people to come to power even in 2023.

PFCCI Chairman Abdul Rauf Alam also addressed the event. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif later distributed the trophies among the winners.

PM Sahib should do stand-up comedy, why is he wasting such marvelous talent on politics?

He is learning from Trump... just lie ... who gives a ****
Actually, I'd say Trump is learning from him and people like him.

Involving his entire family in politics, appointing business friends to high posts, prioritizing business with foreign countries over real foreign policy - Nawaz did all of it before Trump did.

no politicians have ever been caught doing corruption. They use the strongest "siasi Intiqam" shield.
