No admission for Sikhs plucking eyebrows: court

Hi,

A religious institution that is only supported by private funds and not govt funds---can dictate their terms of admission.

Now as for as treating patients---it goes beyond the religious beliefs---you take the hippocritis oath to treat everyone in the same manner.

No religious institutin would stop or ask their students not to treat people from other religions or jack believers.

I agree with you. Private School have there own laws and the students have to abide by them, if they do not like them, then they should transfer to another university.

This Univ. is run by SGPC and funded by SGPC and she was going to get is through religious quota. So SGPC have to right to deny entry. I know it sounds may little harsh and makes you scratch you head but it is private institute.
Like I said she was going through religious quota and if there is other person who is more dedicated to his/her religion is more deserving under that quota.

I'd like to see SGPC disallowing entry of sikhs into Gurudwaras if their beard is trimmed / shaved or ladies who do not have long hair or bushy eye brows.

Wonder if their admission brochure said that ladies with plucked eye brows are not allowed.

This is just a case of carrying things too far. In any case this will not die here, lets see what the higher court says on this.

Dont confuse a educational insitute with religious place TE. Weather SGPC is right or wrong that can be argued but it is thier institute and they are the one who are funding it. As stated she was going through special quota not general admision. SGPC have to right deny entry on thier religious and college rules. I am not trying to defend SGPC, I am just saying that they have the right to deny entry under Indian constitution and Punjab/Haryana hight court have backed them up.

firstly the news reported by the reporter was incomplete ...it NEVER said she wanted to get in through RELEGIOUS QUOTA .....medioa can b controlled easily ...and for religious reports most of them report only one side of the coin :hitwall:

secondly it is not wrong if she was denied admission ...it would not have happened if she went in through GM category

thirdly ...this shows the need for removing the quota system ..... everything should be based on the financial status of the student ..not religious stuff SC/OBC ......heck ive seen people getting through sc quota with low marks not because they were financialiy week but were spoiled brats due to their CRORPATI father ...rickety old system right ...cant do any thing abt it right now .....hope my grandchildren will live without idiotic stuff
