Did you guys read the news properly.

This woman is not a typical tourist. She has been staying for long. She travels at mid night...alone in auto and from a pick up point took lift from men ( four of them) in a small car.

Will any Pakistani woman take lift from strangers ( four men in a car) . She took auto to reach that pick up point...did not go to her place.

You get ample public transport from that part. Last year one AAP MLA busted a gang of Nigerian women peddling drugs openly....

anyway ....do not want to comment more...else I will be categorized . This looks like a case of deal gone bad.

I always check CNN and BBC (etc) after reading my local HK media.

The Indian media makes it a huge issue, so of course the international media follows suit.

And I think its good that they do. More the publicity (bad), more awareness. Actually the way i see it, the Nirbhaya rape was a watershed event. Hundreds of rapes that used to go unreported by media, suddenly became newsworthy.

In the past two years, citizens of the Netherlands, America, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Japan, China, South Korea, Nigeria, and Denmark. In fact, two Japanese tourists have been raped in the past six months alone.

This is why you no longer hear of Indians boast of their "soft power".

It's not hurting tourism
in the past few years.....tourism has in fact increased by a very big margin
It gives a bad image here locally but awareness is the need of the hour at least here in India
