BBC News - Nigeria: Hezbollah armoury discovered in Kano city

An armoury belonging to the Lebanese group Hezbollah has been discovered in northern Nigeria, the West African nation's army and spy agency has said.

Three Lebanese nationals have been arrested, an army spokesman, Brig Gen Ilyasu Isa Abba, said.

The cache, including rifles, anti-tank weapons and an RPG, were found in a warehouse in the city of Kano, he said.

Nigeria's State Security Service said they were intended for use against "Israeli and Western interests".

"This is the handwork of Hezbollah," Bassey Ettang, director of the State Security Service in Kano said.

"What has just been discovered is a cell of Hezbollah and what you have seen here is a Hezbollah armoury," he told journalists in Kano on Thursday.

Brig Gen Ilyasu Isa Abba said 11 anti-tank weapons, four anti-tank mines, a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) and 21 RPG missiles, 17 AK-47s, two sub-machine guns and 76 grenades had been amongst the weapons found.

The Lebanese owner of the warehouse where "the weapons of mass destruction" had been stored in sawdust was out of the country, he said

There is a large business Lebanese community in Kano city, the commercial hub of in northern Nigeria.

Kano and north-eastern Nigeria has suffered multiple attacks in the last three years since the home-grown Islamist militant group Boko Haram launched an insurgency.

Mr Ettang added: "You can also be sure that if a group like this is existing then it may even lend support to some of the local terrorists we have on the ground."

Hezbollah is a Shia military and political movement based in Lebanon considered by the US to be a terrorist organisation.

Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is forbidden", says its quest is to overthrow the Nigerian government and create an Islamic state.

There has been growing concern that Boko Haram could be receiving backing from al-Qaeda-linked militants in other countries.

by the way if they want to fix their country problem they must stop making baseless claims and look at where their real problem lies.

. . .
To me this was something I did not know & often wondered what it meant :

"Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is forbidden", says its quest is to overthrow the Nigerian government and create an Islamic state."

The rest appeared to be speculation.

Since Hezballah is a terror group I would guess cause terror. namely attacks against Israeli tourists and embassies. like they were trying to from Thailand, India, Azerbaijan and the successful act in Bulgaria.

I guess it must have stamps on these rusted out weapons that says property of Hizbullah to be used against western or Israeli interest only

You're one to speak, you believe that Israel is arming and aiding the FSA in Syria but despite my many requests of any shred or evidence you have provided nothing but insults.
Seems like some people have very very different standards for something to be believable which depends only on which side they are on.
Hezballah has operated in foreign countries many times, it shouldn't surprise anyone if some country finds a stash of their weapons.

Well if its found in a warehouse owned by Lebanese guy it must be for hizbullah

You are assuming (without a shred of evidence to indicate this) that they just happen to find a warehouse, which by chance happened to belong to a Lebanese (probably Shiite). You presume they didn't have any running investigation, that they did not track weapon deliveries to the warehouse, that they did not have electronic surveillance on the suspects, that the interrogation has lead to no evidence etc etc.
You are willing to accept all those baseless claim as facts without doubt, but it's so impossible for you to believe that Hezballah is doing what it has done many times before?

by the way if they want to fix their country problem they must stop making baseless claims and look at where their real problem lies.

Your claim that they have no evidence leading to Hezballah is based on...?

Nigeria's Military is a well known western stooge

Yes, obviously every country that has favorable relations with the USA is controlled by them. And it goes without saying that it makes them wrong/liars automatically every single time.

. .
Your claim that they have no evidence leading to Hezballah is based on...?

Based on they didn't provide any evidence leading to Hezbollah .
Now your evidence they are not fabricating these to appease
some foreign investor AKA :usflag: is based on ?

.
@JEskandari

Based on they didn't provide any evidence leading to Hezbollah .

Did you expect them to provide a YouTube link to the investigation? Is it a common practice in Iran to provide one? Did you expect them to expose their own intelligence networks or what not?
If the accusations hold there would be a trial, you are welcome to take a flight there at the appropriate time and be witness.

Now your evidence they are not fabricating these to appease some foreign investor

Ah, but have I claimed, without a shred of doubt, that this is not fabricated? When there is no clear evidence online I can only withhold judgment and assess based on hezballah/Iran's track record. Which, as you can see by Black-eagle above, is ripe with such actions.

Previous case went to court:

An Iranian man convicted of smuggling arms into Nigeria has been sentenced to five years in prison by a Lagos court.

Rockets, mortars and grenades were among the weapons seized from a ship which docked in Lagos in 2010.
