Nicaragua gives Chinese firm contract to build alternative to Panama Canal

Chinese will gain some more enemies with this move in South America. And Nicaragua as their ally.

Come on, it is a canal and it will be open to everybody as long as they pay their troll, in short, a business.
And with two canals the troll cost will stay reasonable because there will be competition.
So what is the problem for anybody?

If the new canal is wide enough to accommodate 100K ton aircraft carriers, that would be awesome.

Well if it is designed with 250,000 ton bulk carriers in mind, a 100,000 ton AC will be no problem.
However, I don't think anything with a nuclear reactor inside will be or should be allowed.
