Chinese President Xi Jinping has renewed the demand for the military's loyalty to the communist party leadership.
Xi inspected military forces stationed in Fujian Province on Thursday and made an address to the commanding officers.
He said the party's principle that its leadership absolutely instructs the military has not been shaken even a little.
Xi also said corruption should resolutely be punished.
Among the military units Xi visited was an army division he had previously served at. Central Television aired photos taken when he worked at the division, stressing that Xi has close ties with the military.
The party leadership led by Xi has been promoting an anti-corruption campaign and purging high-ranking officials.
Last month, the party decided to deprive General Xu Caihou of his party membership and send him to the military's investigation unit for prosecution. Xu had been a former vice chairperson of the party's Central Military Commission.
On Tuesday, the party announced the beginning of an investigation of Zhou Yongkang for what it called grave violations of discipline. He was a former Standing Committee member of the Communist Party's Political Bureau, China's top decision-making body.
China watchers say the anti-corruption campaign is apparently Xi's way of trying to dominate power.
They also say Thursday's visit appears to be aimed at averting the military's possible worries about the ongoing campaign.
