These are childish insults, just like in the fish market.
If these viets are easily risen up by them, they haven't learned to temper their recklessness.

No country wants to be pawn for either one of them to advance their interest against another. I'm sure Vietnam wants to remain neutral to maintain her own independent foreign policy and extract the maximum benefits from both sides.

Just that because of the territorial disputes with China, Vietnam has no choice but to lean towards the US on military cooperation. Otherwise Vietnam has no chance against China, and will truly become a pawn of China. That's not what you want as well.

Strategically Vietnam will want to bring in US influence to balance China's influence and have greater space in its foreign policy, but at the same time not lean too much towards the US. That explains their recent assurance to China.

I don't think Vietnam will allow the US to set up a military base there because she will lose her neutrality. At most Vietnam will allow the US to use their military facilities but not set a up military base, like Singapore.

And no, I don't agree with you. As long as Vietnam is united and can build up a respectable military force and economy to defend our interests, we need neither the US or China. We should depend on ourselves, and fight only for ourselves and not any foreign force.

Singapore might think differently, but Vietnam is not Singapore. We shall learn from the failed lessons of Korea and Japan, and maintain our independence.

If Vietnam is foolish enough to be the battlefield of US vs. China, then only Vietnam will suffer.

How are they "failed"? SK and Japan are among the most prosperous countries in Asia, and many Asians in the region want to migrate there for a better standard of living.
