Power-cut in EPZs put investors in great trouble
Dhaka, Apr 11: Frequent power disruption and load shedding in different export processing zones (EPZs) of the country are putting export-oriented industries in great trouble though they are entitled to uninterrupted supply of electricity under their exclusive agreements with the government. Operators of such export-oriented industries alleged that the governments 12-hour power-cut is apparently being applied in their case although there is no official order either from the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) or from the Power Development Board (PDB).
The investors in at least three EPZsIshwardi, Adamjee and Karnaphuli EPZsare the worst victims of the governments recent 12-hour power-cut policy.
