What's new

Next defence budget may touch $ 7.5 Billion.

Thats really a big increament.
It's really not if you consider that the present rate of inflation in Pakistan is 8%. Effectively, it is just an overall 7%-10% increase in real terms. Not much considering the effect of the WOT resulting in excessive wear and tear on equipment that requires replacements and additional spares, extra expenditure on deployment of troops in the AfPak region and so on.

There would be little left over for modernization. The PN needs an additional $6 billion just for acquiring Chinese subs that it had asked for way back in 2008. It couldn't proceed due to shortage of funds and lack of collateral.

.
real problem is that taxation is merly 9.5% GDP that too after an increase of 18% taxtaion this year. otherwise it was around 8%!
increase is around 13% in news. resources are bond to increase faster so still we may see some growth in expenditures in other fields

Good points. Pakistan seriously has to improve its economy for any modernisation to begin.

CSF helps with the replacement etc of the equipment.. which isnt much significant... but still tht adds about 1.4 billion $ .. correct me if im wrong...

While interior ministries fund Frontier Corps... (not the defence budget).

Haha... AFFDP-2019 khaday waar gaya.. thanks to our previous govt..

Agreed...I think as we are in War, Army is going to purchase Gunship Helicopters and also boost the JF-17 program.... @Aeronaut @Web Master

We have been hearing abt Gunships particularly T-129s since long... hopefully we will see them soon....

Hope so.

Pakistan GDP is 27.000 billion RS. Defence budget of 700-750 billion rs will be between 2.6-2.8% of GDP.

. .
The extra expense like War on Terror, extremism and local policing requires more financial allocation to defense for next 2 year till terrorism is eradicated from Pakistan. With inflation in the country at 15 to 20%, Army is actually asking for less. Inflation and extra terrorism expense could have demanded more...like 35%.

Pakistan GDP is 27.000 billion RS. Defence budget of 700-750 billion rs will be between 2.6-2.8% of GDP.

Currently at 18% but can be raised to 25%.

.
The stupid politicians should look to increase the overall financial situation of the country instead of the defence budget! The defence budget should technically increase to US$ 7.5 Billion by default of the increase in income of the country.......which should happen by default of good policies and pure intentions.

Oh what the hell I was thinking, good policies and pure intentions!!
