NEWSWEEK:China has been very good for Tibetans

Recent stats should also be posted. Also the development programs too....its the only way to tell people about Tibet and Chinese contributions, which may play a crucial part in thinking of Indians' atleast.
2003 isn't recent? And the trend is obvious.

And there are a ton of stuff about Chinese investment in Tibet online. If you wanna find it, you will find it easily with a google search.

I meant 2011...a lot has changes in 8 years...I know google dear...but what's the point of a forum if you can get real information from the local people. I didn't know half a thing about Pakistan, where entire internet is full with anti-Pakistan material until I got to this forum and find that situation is different when you learn from people who experience it daily.

For ex. Villages of India are painted full of malnourished people, but a guy like me can tell you the exact condition that foreign media doesn't understand....and they can't think that indian villagers immune system is too good than western people have n general but they die due to lack of medical facilities.

the government is offering Tibetans the same bargain it has offered the rest of the country: in exchange for an astronomical rise in living standards, the government requires citizens to relinquish the right to free worship and free speech.

WHAT WOULD U CHOOSE-

rise in living standards? or freedom and liberty?

What freedoms do they lack, that a Dalit has?

At least they can walk within 30 feet of a high caste person without being attacked.

And they have a much higher per capita income, and social indicators such as maternal mortality rate and life expectancy than even the average Indian. They have toilets too.

Compare any per capita indicators between a Tibetan (around the same as the Chinese average) compared to an Indian Dalit or an Indian Muslim.

i ask a philosphical question and this moron brings india into it

once u go to india, u will see why Dalits are kept at bay

And they have a much higher per capita income, and social indicators such as maternal mortality rate and life expectancy than even the average Indian. They have toilets too.

are u telling me tibetans enjoy all that?

then why are they trying so hard to get into india?

population of Tibetan in Tibet
AD 700: 9.8 million (Tibetan Buddhism found in AD 700)
AD 1700: 1.8 million (for Monks can not be marriage and childbearing, not engaged in the production, population decrease fast )
AD 1950: 1 million (Mortality rate 28 ‰, infant mortality 430 ‰, the average life expectancy 35.5 years)
AD 2003: 2.5 million (Mortality rate 5.7 ‰, infant mortality 27 ‰, the average life expectancy 67 years)

AD 2010 2.71 million

Since there is quite a no of indian posters who oppose vehemently to our policy on our Xizang brothers, I'll show them this mirror:

Infant mortality rate

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate

india : (2005-2010):
ranked 150 @ 60.82%

Xizang (Tibet ) should be ranked 105 based on 2003 survey.

Life expectancy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Expectancy_by_Country

india: # 139 @ 64.7 (2005-2010)
Xizang: should be ranked 127 (2003)

The statistics speak volume!

The above reminds me of lines of Colonial powers still holding on to the colonial possessions after WW2, justifying the colonial rule by stating they have better standards of living compared to other newly independent states.

Does a Tibetan have the right of self-determination? Ironically from being a member of P5 you should know this well

Did a Tibetians have any say when CCP indulged in ethnic dilution of Tibetians in the own region by injecting non-ethnic groups?

Did Tibetians have any say during the cultural revolution?

.
what is the demography of Tibet, how much Hans are there 70% or 80%.

Chinese census mentions it as 90% Tibetians, though some question it.

majority Hans are considered as migrant laborors not included in census in both Tibet and Xinjiang.

If China or as in this case the US of A is of the view that the Chinese occupation of Tibet is good for the Tibetan economy then in that case I think that the world should be pretty happy that the Kashmiris are a part of India since if any country could ensure the economic well being of the Kashmiri people in South Asia its India and India only!!I have no problem with what the Chinese are doing or saying for that matter. . . .the problem arises when every time they have to poke their nose in India's internal affairs!!:smokin:
