New York subway so crappy, worse than the ones in third tier Chinese cities'

NYC Subway is crappy because Albany and the city fight over funding and the MTA is run by the Governor the city basically gave power of transit in the 60s to the state government

. .
And to be honest NYers don't really care about cleaning the subways no 1 it runs 24/7, no 2 Nyers just don't care and throw trash no 3 complain and put the same courupt politicians in power

. .
China has the longest subway in the world, just ask anyone who took the subways in China had ever seen even one rat or roach, or tell me which city's subway below you want to see I will provide videos.

You must be really naive to think that rats don’t exist in Chinese subways.
Just because they aren’t visible doesn’t mean they aren’t there.

Maybe the Chinese garbage management system is top class and I can believe that, because of which the o visibilty of rats might be mitigated to a certain extent. But they are there and they will show up.

.
Aside from the manhattan side, rest of the NY city looking like an old and crowded market place, building reminds me of chicken cages stacked on top of each other.

Depends I live in Queens and it looks pretty suburban same goes with Staten Island

Yeah they are just better at cleaning their subways I think being an old system is not an excuse London,Paris,Tokyo(1927) etc are just as old just needs better management 2nd MTA should give back control of the subways to the city

If they are not visible, it'll be ok,whenwill New York make their rats invisible?

.
If people don't care, New York is well on the way to become New Mumbai.

Are you judging the vibrancy of a city purely on its subway lines?
New York is light years ahead of Mumbai! And I call both home.

New York will never become Mumbai.
It’s a different story now whether MUMBAI can even come close to being a New York. But it’s still Amchi mumbai

.
i think NYC subway is still the largest subway system in the world????

Never, because unlike you who thinks rats can be eliminated completely by “cleaning”, we know rats are a problem everywhere. They will survive through anything and will eat anything to survive.

Also unlike other subway or metro systems NYC Subways were run by private enterprises until like the 1940s so they were basically 3 transport companies IRT BMT IND the city took over in the 40s another reason it's so complex to upgrade signals and stations plus lines they were built to different standards the number lines built by the IRT are smaller in Car length and shorter station platforms plus different signals from BMT and IND

Don’t think so. It’s hard to build and expand NYC subway. It’s limited by the load and dependency that people have on it as a mode of transport.

I believe New York is older. Early early 1900s I believe.

London is the oldest theirs open in 1863, Paris opened in 1900 I think it can be expanded and upgraded but the problem is lack of political will and the post WW2 surburban boom led to more focus on highways and automobile especially in NY metro area Robert Moses the chief civil engineer in post ww2 NY was the highway man he led the death of the NYC Subway expansion led to the terrible mismanagement of the 70s and 80s things are much better now no graffiti and less crime but load is the problem
No, Shanghai is, and Beijing is the close second.

Correct
