‘New wine shops, conspiracy to destroy youth’

A lot of Pakistanis do not buy/drink alcohol in the UK where it is widely available. It all goes down to the personal choices.

Yes you are right and alot of Pakistanis drink here in Pakistan where it's illegal... but thanks to our laws that no one can promote selling of alchohol but that's not the case in UK.

whats wrong with alcohal when we have streets full of deadly drugs like herione , other hard drugs and guns

As far as I know, drinking vine in moderate amount is permissible. Intoxication by any means is not. Our Pukhtoon brothers are always high on niswar that is haram too. Talibans blowing people around is haram too. After all those who dont want to drink should have have will to not drink. Is it like if you travel to any european country you will request the government in advance to stall alcohol during your stay??

Its better if we make all talibans and violent people stay at home drunk rather than causing menance around.

Those who want to commit sin will do it regardless. People cannot be controlled on individual basis. This "mullah geri" is a concecpt swen into societ by Zia like a bad patch aka "paiwand"

yes but those drugs are also illegal as per Law of the country...

point is alcohal can be an alternate to hard drugs , they can knock brains out for a night next day wil be ok ,its not addictive it doesnot ruin life and families ....... ever seen those herione addicts !?

You know that drinking Alchohol is not allowed in Islam... I know it's not allowed so why are you trying to make it legal... I agree with you that if someone is not drinking it already will not drink it even if it's legal... but if something , some bad thing, is going on under the cover why you want it to uncover it ?? let it happen under the cover anyone who wants to drink still has access to it.... but no body talks about it openly that's the advantage being it illegal

You gotta be kidding me, No one talks about it openly huuu, You can find anything & everything & you can talk about it at the same time...

O come on man ... Don't tell me this I've seen families ruined becasue of alchohol addiction.... Come on you should research a bit before talking...

Oh, it does. It is factually incorrect to state that alcoholics don't destroy families. However, comparatively you can clearly and scientifically argue that alcohol abusers are far smaller in proportion compared to drug abusers (even if the study is limited to casual users only).

Bhandara used this argument to debate this in the previous NA. Sher Afgan and another MNA agreed. They were given a call of silence by the speaker when mullah brigade started chanting slogans.

A crime is not a reply for a crime.... This is not the way of answerig, if taking heroine is a crime then at the same time taking alchohol is also.... you cannot justify both crimes.....

I think Pakistan is not ready for this, with the extremist record we have its not suitable, we are not yet matured enough to decide as a nation.

We'll either not drink alcohol or we will be totally drunk.. no middle way.

Its like saying lets keep talibans in Pakistan, let them preach their extremist version of Islam, we people of Pakistan has a choice we either follow them or not, and look whats happening.

Its not about the choices we have its about the mentality.

Let the wine shops open in Pakistan we people have the choice to consume it or not and we all know what we will prefer, dont we? :cheesy:

Logic and reasoning has been used to justify that prohibition breeds:-

  1. Underground trade and black markets
  2. Financial opportunities for criminals who become bootleggers
  3. Loss of revenue to the state
  4. Deaths due to poisonous liquor
  5. Bribes for Police officials who spend time catching liquor sales rather than real crime
  6. Hypocrisy in society
  7. Bans lead to increase in demands
  8. The ban is idiotic argument (you don't ban cars because someone cannot drive within the speed limit)

Regulate it, put a heavy duty on it making it financially unfeasible, a strict age limit and criminal punishment on public drinking.

families ruined to alcohal addictions are very few in numbers than of those ruined by herione addiction my research isnt based on numbers we witness it every day .... not sure what part of pak are you from , i can tell you in karachi try a trip and you wil know ... there are thousands ruined and destroyed by herione. They live in gutters , they steal , they are infected , they are on trafic lights begging ....!!

on the other hand i see people smoke chars (hash) , thats also haram and unlawfull but its very very widely and commonly used. Point is alcohal is better alternate than these very harmful drugs

But the question is that why wine shops are opening up in Muslim dominated areas? So rather than looking for a conspiracy, Jamaat e Islami (JI) should accept the obvious. It's the simple principle of demand and supply.

There is no point in raising concern over it. If someone wants to drink alcohol he will do it at any cost. No amount of religious training can stop him. If anything that can stop him is his own personal resolve.

On a lighter note, it's human nature to go for forbidden. We should accept that reality. We can't force a person not to choose that path. We can only reason with him but can't force him as religion is about choice and not force.

When do nation-states and societies mature?

We'll either not drink alcohol or we will be totally drunk.. no middle way.

Is everybody a bhangi? Is everybody a smoker?

There's a big difference between hate-mongering, terrorists and liquor. Liquor doesn't tell you to blow an infidel.

Its not about the choices we have its about the mentality.
Semantics.

Let the wine shops open in Pakistan we people have the choice to consume it or not and we all know what we will prefer, dont we? :cheesy:
I live in the middle of the campus surrounded by bars. I do not drink. My reasons are logical. Millions of teetotalers across the world make choices.

A crime is never an alternate for other crime... STOP this drug buisiness try to give healthy activiteis to youth... You know in Karachi you have to struggle really hard to find a play ground same is the case in Lahore... young people have lot of energy and they want to utilize it.... try to indulge them in sports and other healthy activities rather than providing them a harmful alternate.... Do not let them have time for such crap activities...
