It is idiotic to eve think 3 tons plus cruise missile could be use as Air to Air missile.

No, i think, such as system is only viable and economical if it is very long range system for all threat spectrums, otherwise, it is economical to have dedicated system variants of different roles so that they can be spread fielded at locations which are subject more to a specific type of threat.

Eg : You field a battery of a multirole air defence system in peshawar but the anti ship capabilities are useless from that area, as well as most probably air to ground as well. So better to have variants, in strength, spread them out as per requirement, they could be multirole as well at points as well as dedicated at other points. Fielding a multirole system, when it gets suppressed, you lose it all, instead, field a HQ-16, some KMs ahead of HQ-9, one goes down, the other is live !!


In time, they will prove even more of a threat than PL-15, can’t wait to see india even further butt hurt once we get those beauties China is developing...

One system can have various type of sensors and missiles.

Actually the present Brahmos is 3-tons. Anything less than this would not achieve the same range.

The ULR-AAM we've seen under the J-16, but that woukd require a carrier aircraft in Pakistan.

Very likely possible but definitely the radar of JF-17 is not enough to guide the missile. It needs AWACS data to do the final process. Since JF-17 has demonstrated carry C-802 missile under it's pylon. I see no reason why this AWACS killer missile can't be loaded on.

Yeah Abhi was never shot down Pakistani claim of shooting Mig21 is a lie along with Rafael produced SPYDER missile shooting down Elbit System upgarded Mi-17V5.
