New Philippine-made sniper rifle info
United Defense Manufacturing Corporation, a 100% Filipino owned company that manufactures rifles and also engages in the research and development of rifles has come up with another new and innovative product
The S7-PVAR rifle is a semi-automatic Precision Rifle chambered in the time-tested 7.62 x 51mm NATO round and designed to hit targets up to 1,000 yards. The S7-PVAR takes after the AR-10 battle rifle designed by Eugene Stoner. But unlike the AR-10, which uses the Direct Gas Impingement System (DGIS), the S7-PVAR uses the patented PVAR™ system.
Here is a video that shows how the PVAR system works
The PVAR or Pneumatic Valve and Rod System is a "bare bones, no frills and very simple" designed gas and piston operating system that utilizes a combination of gas and mechanical energy for a more effective and reliable cycling of the weapon. The PVAR design prevents hot and high pressured gases from reaching the bolt assembly and the chamber. This results in a cleaner and reliable operation, as well as minimal maintenance even in the most rugged environments such as jungles, deserts, snow and salt water conditions. This means reduced cleaning time and overall longer rifle life span. The S7-PVAR's simple piston mechanism was designed to cancel out recoil and muzzle rise, which enables the sniper to refocus instantly on the target for each and every round fired! The PVAR uses a one piece handguard with a military standard 1913 Picatinny top rail held securely only at the barrel extension which "floats" the barrel and reduce barrel vibration while in battery. That aids in better accuracy and consistency. The choice of barrel length can be anywhere between 18 inches up to 26 inches, with or without fluting. The non-glare, matte finish of the stainless steel barrel is also an alternative to the standard chrome moly vanadium in manganese phosphate finish. The two-stage trigger is as crisp as it can be, starting from a take-up of 3.5 lbs to hammer release at 2.0 lbs. Unlike the DGIS system that is prone to fouling and is plagued with safety and reliability issues when dirt and salt water enters the system, the S7-PVAR is more rugged and more accurate than the AR-10, the DGIS and most bolt-action precision rifles out there. Rifles equipped with the patented PVAR system can fire safely and reliably even with salt water inside the system, a feature that a DGIS does not have. It is certainly a big plus factor for the special forces engaged in battle in harsh environments since they are not worried that when they emerged from water level and immediately fire their weapons, nothing will blow-up on their face.
