Many of in here will criticise Nehru for his mismanagement .But whether like it or not Nehru was main reason for the nurturing of ISRO and Atomic Agency.He knew the power of technology and its importance in contemprory world.And he was right.His successors also gave a lot of support to ISRO with zero politics .

Imagine,suppose we dont have any of facilities in here what would be our situation?Another door for foreign dependency and blackhole for money draining like we are doing now for oil imports.

Yes it also proves that money isn't everything when it comes to High end research. How glad are we that despite indifferent economic conditions, India nurtured its space program since 1960s and the fruits of that are here for all of us to enjoy in form of one of the biggest satellite networks in the world which has led to phenomenal growth in areas like Telecom, Television DTH industry, Weather forecasting etc.

I criticize Nehru for some of his foreign policy decisions like in Kashmir or China..
But i do not for his domestic policies, even though i do not accept his policies(for eg: Socialism). He played the hand he was dealt . I mean what could we have done any different in his place. It is very easy to judge in hindsight.

Space technology in particular was blessed with scientists like Vikram Sarabhai, Dr. Satish Dhawan et al and as you said, had India abandoned the area, we would have to take help from other established players thereby creating another source of dependency.
Today we are in a position, not only to meet our requirements but also help regional countries in this field by offering cost effective and reliable services.

Those pictures are amazing i just recently bought a cheap starter telescope. I think i will upgrade to something much better and newer. It's unreal to see mars and jupiter with your own eyes, amazing how a telescope can see billions of light years away.
