But it appears that WS-10A is powering some j-11s. Is kaveri powering some of the MKIs? In any case, China is behind the west and Russia in engine design. But its still a way ahead of India. So i would say that WS-10 is about as successful as the LCA, which both after long development cycle, saw limited induction into their respective arm forces. i would regard my assessment as the most fair.

The engine has been the weakness of China, but China has been active all these years of him, J-20 should have two engines, a Russian, a set of China's own development, I believe that J-20 when the service will be able to install their own Developed engine.

Now it is hardly any issue since the majority of the aircrafts are now using the indigenous engines, except few like the older aircrafts J-11A and J-10A are still using the AL-31F. Since these older aircrafts are designed to be installed with the Russian engine, whereas its later variants like J-11B and J-10B are designed to be installed with the Taihang engine.

I hardly heard any mentioning about the PAK FA by the Chinese media, it is the Russians who are obsessed and pissed off the success of the J-20.

J-10 did not enter into the service yet, and yes, it was designed to be compatible with the WS-10A/B engine, not AL-31F.

And J-11B/J-11BS/J-15 now all have been equipped with the Taihang engine, none of them flew with the Russian engine.

I didn't checke the exact number, i guess probably hundred of J-11B, and J-11BS just recently entered into the service, so probably 2-3 squadrons.
