ISLAMABAD - Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mahtab Khan has said that the airport will not be named after any personality and its official name will be “Islamabad International Airport (IIAP)”.

The adviser confirmed that the airport will not be named after any personality and its official name will be “Islamabad International Airport (IIAP)”. A media tour to the airport was arranged by CAA while authority’s Deputy Director General Aamir Mehboob briefed media about the project.

A visit to the site revealed that most of the construction work has been completed yet there are several shortcomings that need to be addressed. The biggest shortcoming is non-availability of public transport to the airport although the management claims an agreement has been signed with a private company to start the bus service to connect the facility with Rawalpindi and Islamabad but so far the airport is only accessible through personal vehicles.

The airport has no housing facility for civil aviation staff and accommodation for Airport Security Force (ASF) is only partially available.

The cost of the airport has now escalated to Rs105 billion from the initial estimate of Rs81.1 billion, a senior official of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said. When the construction started in 2006 the cost estimate was Rs37 billion.

A new Kasana Dam will be constructed on 700 acres nearby to fulfil the water needs for the airport although the airport already has a smaller Rama Dam spanning over 282 acres which can fulfil the requirements for about one and a half years.

The decision to delay the launch was taken by Adviser to the Prime Minister Sardar Mahtab Khan on Wednesday after a visit to the new facility. Adviser expressed his satisfaction over the overall preparedness for operationalisation however he wanted the state of the art systems and equipment be tested and trialed more to bring it to the level of international standards.

“For that matter he gave directions to concerned authorities and particularly to CAA to do more tests and trials in order to improve reliability and efficiency of systems,” says a statement issued by CAA.

Liaqat Ali Khan international Airport 8-)

or

AQ Khan international Airport :agree:

or

:pakistan:Janbaz International Airport (Dedicated to recipients of Nishan -e - Haidar ) with airport having picture of all the recipient of Nishan - e Haider , in Terminal so any new passenger that lands in Pakistan know it is country of Janbaz !!! Warriors . First thing people see in airport is images of Janbaz Shaheed

I am good with all three options

Example of Nishan -e - Haider recipient celebratory plaque decorating the entrance of airport

And some honorable mention of lives lost in War on Terror an operation which has lasted last 20 years

I suppose something similar for Pakistani Forces but for Fight against Terrorism
(Military force , Navy , Airforce, Rangers, Police , Civilians)

It would be good to do it in Islamabad as all Foreign Embassy people land in that Airport or will land in that airport to show what we have lost on daily basis

Bravery also from civilian side as young as School Students

So I think if the Airport can be given name of Janbaz International Airport it would make great sense

They should really name it after some founding father/mother of Pakistan
if they dont do that, then PPP will rename to BB International Airport when they get the chance

.
If anyone is seriously asking for advice

New:- Edhi International Airport
And Old Islamabad Airport:- Pindi Boys Airbase :)

.
At least they should paid some sort of homage to Pervez Musharraf, who started it.
Airport was scheduled to be finished in 2007 but than Musharraf was forced to resign and we know who's the exact culprit.

. .
as both our major airports are named after founding fathers why not name it the same way after fatima jinnah.
ps. i think islamabad international airport is a great name. but i am suggesting all this because they won't touch fatima jinnah's name otherwise they gonna change it back to BB the first chance they get

Vanilla Islamabad Airport will not cut it for me we need something impactful to honor the Fallen Soldiers and Brave Civilian :agree:

Time to honor the brave folks who actually make a difference

  • Janbaz International Airport, Islamabad
  • Bahadur International Airport , Islamabad

  1. Commemorate Nishan-E-Haider recipients with a Gold Plaque hung on walls
  2. Giant center piece which list all the names of braves who have died defending nation in War against Terror (Civilian + Soldier + Rangers + Navy + Airforce 2001-2018)

We already have many Women Universities & Hospitals named after Fatima Ali Jinnah

The air port should be named as EDHI AIR PORT .

at least , international travelers will know about Edhi's name and contribution for humanity.

And they will get shock not finding his name in the list of noble laureates despite serving humanity regardless of religion and color.

its the best way to slap noble committee .

.
If the PPPPPPPPPPP come back to power they will re-name it after that dead woman they like to worship..

If the Nawaz comes back to power... He will re-name it after his retarded daughter....

If Mushy ever comes back to power he will re-name it after himself...

So end of the day... Who cares about a name that will be changed by the next corrupt person...

. . . . . .
