new Gasoline price hike in India ( PKR 150/liter )

.
Since India has been mentioned,
our petrol prices have been hovering in the range of 70 to 80 INR for quite a few years now. Slightly less for diesel.
The government has increased the tax to take advantage of the low procurement cost of oil. That's reasonable. People on the ground hate increases in price of fuel. Very few demand the price to be reduced.
The extra taxes can help take care of budget deficit. Assuming the corrupt politicians don't gobble it all up. Overall collection would be down due to the corona lockdown, though.

.
Why you always see everything through the prism of elections. The politicians do, yes but why you an ordinary citizen like you do .
Majority of poor Indians are in miserable conditions so are the people around the world. No one can deny that fact. So helping them in anyway possible is a good thing under these tough times.
Why do you have to put everything with regards to Modi winning his elections?
We Pakistanis may not like him.
But we know you do.
And it is your decision that matter so how much we want, nothing would happen. We are not your opposition whom you have to fight. We are here discussing why petrol is expensive in India. We are not discussing what effect it would have on modi and his elections?
In these times the best solution is to increase demand by giving poor people money, and lowering prices (one way of doing that can be achieved by lowering the petrol prices). The people might not be moving and don't even use petrol due to lockdown. But the farmers, the other people who transport food and maintain food supply chains are still on roads and supplying food. Increase in petrol price means increase in the price of food items /consumer goods.
Now you are kind of lucky that you don't have to change the petroleum price, only the tax ratio as petrol prices fall. Poor don't understand that and your prices of commodities may also remain the same. But in this difficult time reducing petrol would atleast lower the price of commodities so poor people would be able to buy 1 day meal form the 500 modi is throwing at them.
There are many people who think differently. You might believe in the survival of fittest and natural selection. There are political groups who believe in eliminating the poor and consider then the burden. Masses dying would be a huge boon for a country like India for it would decrease the population (not that I am saying it is happening.)
You might belong to that group.

You have raised many issues in your reply. I will try to answer those point wise.

Modi Election :
In democracy people replace the government if they are not satisfied with its policies therefore raising the prices of gasoline can be good or bad for our economy. Let Indians be a judge of this.

Reduce Gasoline price to help poor and to lower commodity prices :
In India only migrant labour faced the major problem during this pandemic. Rest of the society hardly faced any serious problems even during curfew like lockdown. State government provided food to poor people at their door steps. Central government transferred funds directly into poor people bank accounts. Our inflation rate is at its lowest and there is no shortage of food medicines or any essential service. Poor are provided with free meals and free medical services.

Masses are dying:
India is the only country in last G20 meet which advocated saving human lives over economy. We have strictest of lockdown which has saved thousands of lives at a huge economic loss. During this lockdown India has enhanced its capacity manifolds to provide medical assistance in case of any exponential growth in Covid patients.
People will die if you open lockdown on the pretext of giving jobs to daily wage earners whom the state can't feed. It happens everyday in Pakistan but never in India. You will see the impact of the policies followed by our two nations in coming months.

Why are you converting to PKR?
Its not our fault that your PKR value is not good enough compare to INR.

A common Indian are paying less amount than A Pakistani, only 70-80rs/litter.

I don't believe to convert the amount till I get salary in dollers

I did it inly because there’s a huge misconception in pakistan that gasoline is cheaper in India, i wanted to show it to Pakistani people that its two times more expensive than Pakistan.

LOL these are the same Indians that obsess with price hikes in Pakistan.

Because they want Pakistan to keep importing and subsidizing imports. Our imports are 55 billion while exports are just 23 billion. The more expensive gasoline, less people gonna buy it and more people will choose either public transport which will help local economy or will use bicycles which will have positive impact on environment.

Lol, when oil prices are at lowest India raised its prices!

Read my post.

Petrol is bread winner of Indian economy after huge lost in foreign remittances. So, more to come.

Excellent move.

Heavily Tax imported polluting gasoline.

Use these funds to fight Corona Now and later subsidize electric vehicles with this excess cess.
