What's new

New building of Punjab Assembly will be Inaugurated today

I hope you do know this kind of building takes several years to plan and build and it couldn't have been started in the last 3 years?

Where do you guys leave your brains when commenting on things?

At home, i don't want to put too much mileage onto it.

Politicians can do several years of planning for themselves, without any party based prejudice. But these Lanties will never plan projects that lasts more than 3 years just because they don't want to give credits or may be they are too much selfish.
Not really how construction works, but sure. Also, this was apparently planned in 2006 under PMLQ, which means Musharraf is to blame.

See the following comment...

That explains a lot. Nice to have more information available.

waste of our money these monkies go there to bark each other a street majlis of village have more productive and decent conversation then these goons sitting in assembly .

this building can be converted into a tax scam university or YouTube VLogger Lodge or donate it to Eidhi.

Everything is possible.

They were on track on the design in the centre and then on the left and right it all went to hell, real quick.

When every single provincial assembly has a better looking building then our National Assembly

Who approved and started this building and at what time will be interesting to find out for many commenting in this thread.
It was approved in PML N time and most of the construction was done and then they stopped in midway. PTI then completed it.
400 people in a chamber designed for 40 in the 1930s
Well then that is enough reason but cost could have been reduced by not placing those stairs and other stuff in it.

It started in 2006 during the PMLQ era, work was then haulted in 2008 when it was nearing completion and the completed exterior just sat there until 2018 (12 years) when PTI Restarted work.

Yes they could have made it cheaper by not having those escalators and ornate wood fittings, but this building will last at least a century and is the house of the Elected Representatives of the People of Punjab so a bit of the costs are warranted in that context alone.
