Another assassination attempt on the life of the controversial selfappointed artist Lars Vilks,
occured today at a seminar in Copenhagen.
An "arab looking" person killed one attendee and wounded three police officers,
with an assault rifle, after which he escaped in a car. A policehunt is ongoing.
Lars Vilks was not harmed in the attack.

Lars Vilks became known in Sweden as both artist and madman, created a piece of art
by collecting, what some would call a junkyard, in a national park (without permission) and declared it
an independent nation, named Ladonien.

The idiot took a taxi from the crime spot, so he was quickly identified,
and when the police came to arrest him he started firing again and was shot dead.

Ridiculing the holocaust is not illegal, just considered really bad taste.
Denying it is illegal, in some countries.

Denmark's very strict Law on Personal Names is in place to protect children from having odd names that suit their parents' fancy. To do this, parents can choose from a list of only 7,000 pre-approved names, some for girls, some for boys. If you want to name your child something that isn't on the list, you have to get special permission from your local church, and the name is then reviewed by governmental officials. Creative spellings of more common names are often rejected. The law states that girls and boys must have names that indicate their gender, you can't use a last name as a first name, and unusual names may be rejected. Of the approximately 1,100 names that are reviewed each year, 15-20% of the names are rejected. There are also laws in place to protect rare Danish last names.

First names must be reported to the Tax Agency, and they allow multiple first names, but if you later change your name you must keep at least one of the first names that you were originally given, and you can only change your name once. For instance, if you’re named John and want to change it to Jack, your new first name will be Jack John, keeping the original first name. Any further changes must be made through the Swedish Patent and Registration Office.

That's an excellent law. There was a girl in my glass named"sukhwinder" and a guy named "aishwarya". Both used to get bullied a lot just for this, all because their parents didn't use some common sense and named them whatever they wished.

The law on naming is much older than that. My guess would be since the 16th century.
It also protects families with uncommon/unique names from people parasiting on their reputation.

As for naming children, that law protects children from beeing named "stupid" , "idiot" etc.
Has nothing to do with freedom of speech, and normal names and odd names are no problem normally.
The law as many other laws can be misused by petty officials.
